American cars are built for speed and now that they are faced with stiff competition from European car manufacturers, you get comfort also. The fuel economy trademark belongs to the Japanese.
Its all economics and politics. Americans own oil and hence command its consumption. Japan on the other hand has to make do with its technological know how to extract the most energy out of the least amount of fuel.
If you want fuel economy, go for the new honda city. Under powered, slow, high revving but great fuel consumption.
If you want a safe and comfortable ride then go for optra. Seems overpowered when compared with its contemporaries but not so great on fuel consumption.
If you want resale go with honda again. It can be repaired nearly in all cities of Pakistan. Whereas with an Optra, you can get it done in all major cities or wherever there is a chevy dealership/mechanic. Always get it looked at by a chevy trained mechanic. Sure it will be a little expensive but it pays off in the long run especially if you enjoy driving. If not then go with honda, toyota or suzuki. They're upkeep is less expensive to maintain.
