Ideally the tempertaure gauge should be a tad bit lower from the middle point. Yours seem a little high for this car.
What rating T-stat valve are you using?
Whats the condition of fan? I reckon its not running optimally.
If you have a cheapo ELM scanner hook it up and note the coolant temperature readings.
Also you say the temperature gauge is changed. What do mean by that? Fiddled with the speedo? If yes then the temperature gauges have been disturbed.
If everything else is OK then I suspect a malfunctioning water body.
