I'll tell you guys something, Ive used propane butane mix aka LPG to run an old toyota cressida A/C - WOW that thing was blowing dry ice cubes. BUT its very hard in Pakistan, because the LPG containers are not vacuumed first.
I had to vacuum a container and find an LPG filling plant - and fill my little bottle with LPG, when it was done, I put in about half the quantity of R12 that was mentioned in the manual, The A/C was going insane stupid cold in that car. But its too much of a hassle and you cannot top it up, as LPG is a mixture of two gases - you never know which one is low, and LPG is also not regulated in Pakistan, different vendors provide different mixtures.
Hence - it was a shot in the dark to save some money and it worked for the next 2 years after that.
