Fake Engine Oils!

Make sure you destroy the oil can after use, break the cycle. Never leave it with the mechanic. They sell the used oil AND the can to the recycler. If they don't get enough cans, it may force them to reconsider their biz.
As someone pointed out, go for the less 'commercial' brands. I use Petromin and Fuchs. less chances of fake product.

I always made sure I bought lube oils from a high volume outlet - and I had it pumped from the 210 litre drum, or just bought the drum. It was always genuine and fresh product.

As Romano also put it destroy the plastic container and bin it. That way its a bit more expensive for the fraudsters who may eventually have to look for something else to do.

He was a auto technician in karachi so he could have used it in a month easily

used it up. it yields about 50 cars oil change for 4 litres a piece.

in addition to that i sometime have a feeling that they can also dupe us by selling us a used oil filter, that we throw at oil-change stations.
Because anything is possible from a Pakistani muslim.

If you have an oil burning furnace you can use it as fuel. It packs a great deal of heat. Ideally you need to call an oil trade depot and ask for recycling facility.

in karachi, the most trust worthy place i know to buy lubricants is National Oil Trading Company (NOTC) in front of preedy police station near the tiber center auto parts market. the price is low as well because they are whole sellers. last time i bought 2 bottles (4L) of ZIC Hiflo (20W50) from there, the price was around Rs. 1560/- where as the retail price was Rs. 1700/-

Here in Islamabad, I found Caltax Petrol Pump at Super Market, they have drums of Havoline Oil which is little cheaper than regular packed oil. Should I try it ???

i bought ZIC XQ 4 litre from Hyper Star today ... might be expensive but i guess Hyper Star won't be keeping du number jali product ... i hope i am not wrong

The Mohmand Oil Agency sounds good though, will try it next time, but i don't fancy Caltex lubricants a lot. how would you rate them as compared to ZIC?

Say something about the STP Power Steering Fluid. I'm using it in my D16W9 for a while and its a bit unique because I had never seen a colorless steering fluid before.

mohmand oil agency is right besides Shahrah-e-Faisal opp FTC. They have an assortment of oils in drums, gallon containers, 1 litre containers, filters, etc etc etc.

They used to charge Rs 20/- labour for an oil change which took 10 minutes.

btw STP P/S fluid is nothing more than untinted ATF Type A. Infact nearly all P/S fluid is that

^ The reason why they are calling it fake engine oil is because the old black oil we leave after getting oil changed in workshops, they collect all of it and ship it off to recycling plants. They just get rid of the dirt and color, and make it look brand new again.

They even have cans with every( most) company logos and stickers and they just produce fake engine oils which are then shipped to dealers who would even swear that they are genuine.

I got a question, can i top up generator oil with another brand? It is running on Total oil atm, and i got some spare oil left of Caltex

I think Oil Marketing companies can reduce refilling of their brands by using special seals launched by Shell Pakistan few months back in Karachi. Karachiites can give a better picture of those seals which also have sms verification.
