Day4 Two tragedies and disappointments
Woke up in the morning took bath got ready, and had a first sight of Lady finger peak, snow of peaks we're looking awesome, Rakaposhi was also hiding behind the clouds.
Did breakfast in the PTDC cafeteria. Cafeteria interior was quite clean and well maintained. Made with rock and wood it was quite impressive. The breakfast, parathas, tea, slice and jam costed Rs.490
After breakfast left for Baltit fort at around 10am and reached the fort parking in 10-15 minutes from PTDC.
Walking up the slope with children was not an easy go, my wife and Arfa got tired so had little breaks as we went up.
After reaching the fort a guy come inside a room where they have chair we can have some rest. The most common sentence was "Darwazay chotay hn sir bcha k guzrn" even than so a lot of people bumped there head into the doors.
We went inside and had some rest and bought the tickets for the fort tour, it coted Rs.400 per head for adults.
There were a group of 6-8 man may be somewhere from KpK the guide asked that would u like to join this group or should I arrange a separate guide, I requested for a separate guide and it was arranged.
The first tragedy was that when I took my Nikon D5200 to take some shots it stopped supporting the memory card and I could get it fix the whole tour
and relied on my One plus 5T.
It was a good tour the guide told us everything about the fort and showed us the antiques and their history. The rooms, lounges, balcony was very compact if we compare it with the Lahore fort or any other fort in Indo-Pak. Almost spend one and a half hour in the fort, took some pics. View of the Valley from the top looked mesmerizing.
After leaving the fort we decided to go to Hoper to see the glacier, I was completely relying on the Google maps. The map was showing to go back to Murtazabad and from there to leave main KKH and move towards the glacier view point. Maps showed almost 53 minute from the turn to Hoper. Anyways, when reached turn a few guys were sitting over there I confirmed from them but they said the way to the Hoper is after Ganesh not from here and they started laughing. I was now totally confused whether to rely on Google maps or these guys but than I saw a board reading 'Hoper and Nagar khas' . Than saw another man and inquired him about the way and he told me yes this is the way to Hoper.
So I started my journey, the road was in very good condition and went through Saas Valley. No doubt the scenery was very beautiful the River Hunza valley was now on the left side. After 10-15 km the carpeted road finished now the Kaccha part started and the map was showing 30 min from here. We continued on this track, my wife noticed there is another road on the opposite side of the river first I thought that it was KKH but than looking at the condition of that road from the top it wasn't the KKH. After 10 minutes the Google re-routed the map and now it was showing 1 hour 20 minutes, and I was just like
The track became very bad and I realized that I am on the wrong track and we decided to return from here. But the road was very narrow and it was very difficult to reverse the car from here anyways I found a patch from where I turned back to PTDC
It was almost 5pm so we decided to go to Eagle Nest for sunset view. We reached the top at around 5.45pm enjoyed the view. Witnessed the days last sunlight on the Lady finger peak and came down to visit the Karimabad market.
Just roamed around the market didn't find anything interesting to buy. I noticed that the shopkeepers have not only kept things from Hunza but from all over country and we're selling them at very high rates.
Went back to the motel and had our dinner.
