Day5 Khunjerab Top
Woke up early in the morning, had breakfast and a cup of coffee in the room. Left PTDC at around 7.30am.
Soon reached the Haldeikish site (The Sacred Rocks of Hunza), stopped there for taking some pictures.
After 10 minutes of travelling from rock site reached the awesome Attabad lake site. The view of this lake cannot be described in words, the color of water in the lake hides multiple stories inside it, story of sorrow, story of pain, story of disappointment, story of loosing the beloved ones. When sunshine strikes the water and brings happiness and Ray of hope and opportunities with it.
Soon the series of friendship tunnels started which are built by Chinese after a big portion of KKH was submerged in water after the 2010 landslide tragedy. Driving inside the tunnel has its own experience.
Stopped at the lake and spent around 15-20 minutes over there and than moved on.
Entered Passu at 9am. For Passu cones I can just say one sentence "Husn e Jana ki tareef mumkin nahin"
U just want to go away from the beautiful combination of cone, long trees, the surroundings.
After leaving Passu reached Sost at 9.45, it is the last town while going towards China border. Some shops, PTDC motel and Petrol stations can be seen in the town
A few Chinese trucks were waiting to go to the dry port.
After Sost it's u and the raw beauty of the nature. At 10.15am we were stopped at the Khunjerab national park check post for RS per head enterance fees to the park. There is small tuc shop and washrooms are available if required.
When u move from this check post after almost 10-15 minutes there is another post where a guy gives u an empty plastic bag and asks to put the litter inside the shopper don't through it in the national park.
At some moment u feel that u are out of breath due to low Oxygen in the air. I was worried about my 10 months old son but Alhamdulillah everything went very good. After crossing the mountains u come out in a vast open area.
At 11.30 reached the Khunjerab top, when u have the grey big structure u have a feeling of achievement and satisfaction inside u and u say to urself that Yes U Did it, Thumbs Up
There was a cool breeze at the border covered both the babies with warm clothes especially Umer.
I myself was just wearing jeans and a T-shirt. After a long time was enjoying this type of cool breeze. Used to enjoy this type of breeze in Quetta but after admission in Lahore and than to Karachi and Multan for job I really missed it. I was the only one who was wearing T-SHIRT otherwise everyone was wearing jackets and caps.
Went up to the border from parking took some pictures, had a cup of hot coffee from a mobile canteen.
Left the border at 12.30.
It was my first time and I was expecting to see some Ibex and yalks near the border area but I was not so lucky.
While returning from the border my wife saw two Ibex but could not capture them in camera because they were more quick and ran away.
Reached Passu at 2pm bought some honey from the road side, which proved to be a very nice one, given it to a few relatives the really liked it.
Reached PTDC at 4pm didn't anything to do over there so took my car to a mechanic for check up as I had to leave Hunza the next day.
He was a very good mechanic having knowledge of his work. His workshop is in Aliabad, when coming from Karimabad there is a poultry shop before PSO pump, his workshop is behind the poultry shop.
Came back from mechanic and went to visit the Karimabad market.
Slept earlier as we had to leave in the morning for Gupis, Ghizer.
