FORTH (4) DAY - JULY 29 , 2015 - Continue
As it take almost more than 1 hour to cross the Attbad lake so we reached other side by 11:30 am
there was lot of ruch on embarking piont - locals , cargo tourists -
the place was not properly maintained and comin boats use the the what ever empty space they see , so for tourists and families
it was bit a difficult task - any how , we get on the embarkment
Now we have to hire a Van for Borith lake , passu and on return at Gilmit stay for lunch
there were many good vans there , waiting for the tourists to take them where ever they want
Many tourists - with oiut families were planning for Khunjrab Pass - But there was a bad news for them that due to slide
the road is blocked for a day or two
AS we have already hared the news prehand and have plannned for the till Passu , so we were satisfied with our plan
There was one good thing - there , that there was a caretaker incharge of all rented Vehicles and , he was bargaing the rent and allocating
the vehicle accotrdingly
So after asking for Rs. 5,000/ - for our ruote , elitimately it was agreed on Rs.2,800/- and we got a new Hiace van and very
professional driver ,
so we set in the van and start our journey on ward
than we look at the right at this place , new tuunel road was at it's end , and abeautiful new bridge crossing the River was almost
at its final stage and new road was to meet the KKH on wrads to Khunjrab
as from Lake link road , we reach the KKH , road was beautiful , fully carpeted , lines marked
around views were wonderful , huge mountaind , brown , black and grey all around , and above them or some angles between them
snow covered peaks were looking at KKH
Though it was full sun shine now , still there was some chill in the air
the front view was covered with the Passu cones
Now we were passing through the famous Gilmit
Gulmit*is the headquarters of the*Gojal*Tehsil, in the upper*Hunza*region of the*Gilgit*territory in the*Gilgit Baltistan*region of*Pakistan. Gulmit is a centuries-old historic town, with*mountains, peaks and*glaciers. It is a*tourist*spot and has many hotels, shops and a museum. Its altitude is 2408*m (7900*ft) above the*Arabian Sea*level. Small hamlets consist of Kamaris, Odver, Dalgiram, Laksh, Kalha, Shawaran, Khor Lakhsh, Chamangul and Goze.
Gulmit*is also a Turkish or Iranian word which means "the valley of flowers".
There are well furnished hotels in Gulmit valley. Some of these hotels are Silk Route Lodge, Marco Polo Hotel, Village Guest House, Gulmit Tourist Inn, Shutubar Inn and Horse Shoe Motel.
After travelling some time on KKH - on the right hand side , we see the Passu village track and famous Hussanie bridge there on
the river Hunza
And immediately after few mile the Board of Borith Lake come , indicating towards a track going up the hills
it was a track mix of semi - constructed, mud , etc But the loacla drivers were expert and drive profesionlly upward
the view all around keep chnaging and broader view of the area was getting clera and clear
The road was single track and have to give way to the vehicles coming from other side and some times it become tricky
But the local drivers with full patience pass the test
as we go high and high and look back many more vehicles were coming upwrad , so the tourists were innnn
As after almost reaching the top of that hill , we tyrned around and anf
There lays the Borith lake at the bottom - so green green - from top full lake was in view - waoo
Borith Lake*is a*lake*in the*GilgitâBaltistan, Pakistan. Borith is a hamlet in the surroundings of the Borith Lake to the northwest ofHusseini, a village near*Gulmit,Gojal, in the upperHunza. The altitude of Borith is roughly 2,600 m (8,500 feet) above sea level.
It lies approximately 2*km to the north of Ghulkin, a saline body of water occupying a small hollow at an elevation of 2,500 meters (8,200 feet). The lake can be reached via a 2*km unpaved jeep route from Husseini village, which lies adjacent to Ghulkin village. It is also accessible by a 2-3 hour trekking route directly from Ghuylkin, across the end of the Ghulkin glacier. The site is an important sanctuary for migrating*wildfowl*and is a must to be included in the itinerary of bird-watchers and nature lovers. To witness the large number of ducks arriving from the warmer parts of southern*Pakistan, one should visit between the months of March and June. The birds rest here on their way northwards to the cooler waters of*central Asia. Similarly, from SeptemberâNovember, the spectacle occurs in reverse with the onset of winter towards the north.
A short trek of one hour each way will bring you to Ghulkin Glacier. Just follow the trekking route towards Borith Lake as far as the edge of the glacier, and return by the same route.
For the more adventurous, a longer walk to Passu Gar Glacier is another attraction, crossing both Ghulkin Glacier and Borith Lake. Having crossed Ghulkin Glacier by the same route, continue on the southern side of Borith Lake past the settlement of Borith Bala and the now deserted settlement of Shahabad. The lack of a continuous water supply led to the desertification of this village many years ago. On reaching Passu Gar, one finds a spectacular view of all the icy crenellations along its length. The walk takes about 4â5 hours form Ghulkin to*Passu. From the glacier, a path leads down to the*Karakorum Highway*and the Shisper Hotel.
Alternatively, transport can be obtained locally, enabling the exploration of many routes around this area from different starting points, such as Gulmit.
As we have planned to go to see the apssy glacier first - so after few mintues saty we start on the road along the lake
and enjoying the beautiful lake and sorroundings keeps on moving on the mud track
there were lot of different types of rocks there - snow covered paeks can also be seen around
so we reach the end of the road
From where on fron side , you have to ride up a rock and mud cluster to go on top and from there you can
watch the passu galcier below and its end from where streams were fall in the river Hunza / Indus
the upper side of the glacier was bit block by some rocks
on the other side - the a track was going up the hills , this track was to reach the glacier blow but reqiure
proper equipments
AS we were just watching the glacier - A van of Japanies tourists came and they striaght away
take the way of galacier track and moves on they have Guide , porter and equipment with them
Passu Glacier*is situated in the south side of*Passu village.Passu Peakis situated in the back side of the glacier. This glacier is linked with*Batura Glacier*and many other glaciers of the region.
So after spending some time there we move back to the lake - at one point proper stairs were
there to go down to the lake
it was a hotel which have built some lawns staires , dinning hall , tuck shop etc
There were lot of university groups there - buffet lunch was in preparation
we spent on hour there on lake - enjoy the beauty - But can not got the chance of Lunch - as there were lot of orders
and have to wait for two three hours
we have pre planned that we will take Lunch at Gulmit so we start our journey back
While decending the hill the from view was so beautiful - passu cones hussanie bridge and Hunza/ indus river
Passu*is a small village on the*Karakoram Highway, beside the*Hunza River, some 15 kilometers from*Gulmit, the Tehsil headquarters of*Gojal*in the*Gilgit-Baltistan*region of Pakistan, and about 150*km upriver from*Gilgit. It lies very near the tongue of the*Passu Glacier, and just south of the tongue of the*Batura Glacier. The latter is the fifth longest non-polar glacier in the world at 56*km,[citation needed]and reaches very near to the highway. The people areWakhi*and speak the*Wakhi Language. Religiously they are*Ismaili, a sect of*Shia Islam.
Tupopdan, 6,106 metres (20,033*ft), also known as "Passu Cones" or "Passu Cathedral", lies to the north of the village; it is the most photographed peak of the region.[citation needed]Also nearby are the high peaks ofPasu Sar,Shispare Sar, andBatura.
Passu - Hussaini Suspension Bridges
Hussaini Suspension Bridges that link Zarabad Village to Hussain Village near Passu.
Hanging or*suspension bridges*are a common sight in many countries including: Nepal, Pakistan, India, Malaysia, the Philippines and New Zealand. The Hussaini-Borit Lake Bridge in Northern Pakistan however, has the dubious distinction of being the most dangerous suspension bridge in the world.
The area is known for its âtwo bridge trek,â which is a major tourist attraction experience. No roller coaster or amusement park ride can come close to simulating the truly death-defying thrills and fears associated with crossing this bridge where sudden gusts of winds can knock travelers off their feet to a watery death within seconds.
These types of bridges are traditionally constructed mostly from rope. Due to the limited durability of natural materials, they require periodic repair. The bridge over Lake Borit is in desperate need of much more than that, but it still stands as it always did, shaky and perilous and simultaneously the only means of transport for locals
So after enjoying all above we move back to Gulmit

There are well furnished hotels in Gulmit valley. Some of these hotels are Silk Route Lodge, Marco Polo Hotel, Village Guest House, Gulmit Tourist Inn, Shutubar Inn and Horse Shoe Motel.
The main hotel in Gulmit is " Gulmit Continental Inn" Run by the raja of Gulmit but as per my previous experience I select
the Marco Polo Inn , a bit high on the rock from where the view was simply great
We ordered our lunch and were given siting arrangements in lawn as per our request - the view weather and atmosphere was great
there were lot of Fruit tress - and some last ripe appricots were still there - and lot of white and balck meberries also
some apple tress and some peach but apples and peaches were still raw needs further time to mature
So while our lunch was under preparation - we enjoy the fruits a lot
and few of us go back to village where a local football tournament was under progress - we enjoy few good moves
than have our wonderful lunch and move back to Attabad lake to start our journey back in falling evening
