So almost taking 2 1/2 hours we hit poiint where this road Meet The Great KKH ( karakrum Highway )
The Karakoram Highway*(KKH) is one of the highest paved international roads in the world.[1]It connectsSinkiang Uighur*ofChina*and*GilgitâBaltistan*of*Pakistan*across the*Karakoram*mountain range, through the*Khunjerab Pass
he Karakoram Highway is known informally as the*KKH; within Pakistan it is known officially as the*N-35, while within China, it is known officially as*China National Highway 314*(G314). It is also a part of the*Asian Highway*AH4.
Now onwards the KKH will be running along the River ( Sindh + Gilgit + Hunza etc )
In the end all be called River Sindh or INDUS
The*Indus River, also called the*Sindhū River* in*Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, is one of the longest*rivers in Asia. It flows through*Pakistan, the*Indian*state of*Jammu and Kashmir*and western*Tibet. Originating in the*Tibetan Plateau*in the vicinity of*Lake Mansarovar, the river runs a course through the*Ladakh*region ofJammu and Kashmir, towards*Gilgit-Baltistan*and then flows in a southerly direction along the entire length of Pakistan to merge into the*Arabian Sea*near the port city of*Karachi*in*Sindh. The total length of the river is 3,180*km (1,980*mi). It is Pakistan's*longest river.
Though we have to go to Giglit But to take some rest , Lunch and be fresh have to move backward around 10 Km to
reach Chillas city
NOTE : who desired to to save time and distance may continue towards Gilgit as after some time on main KKH
you get petrol pums and shops and few small hotels to get rest , petrol , refreshment etc
Chilas City
Chilas*(Urdu:ÚÙØ§Ø³â) is a small town located in theGilgit-Baltistan,Pakistanon the left side of river Indus. It is part of the*Silk Road*connected by the*Karakoram Highway*which links it to*Islamabad*in the south via*Dassu,Besham,Mansehra,Abbottabadand*Haripur. In the north, Chilas is connected to the*Chinese*cities of*Kashgar*and*Tashkurgan*via*Gilgit,Sustand the Khunjerab pass.
In Chilas city as in Other places on KKH , you get very low standard , road side hotels only ( Not good for families )
The only and famous place in Chilas is Shangrila Chilas - river side hotel
Shangrial hotel is located on the main Karakorum highway. It is best place to break you journey specially when going to Skardu from Islamabad and is almost midway house between Besham and Hunza. The hotel is situated on the River Indus bank offering superb mountain views. It is a good hotel for families who are looking for quality hotel on KKH.

NOTE : from Chilas onwrads , in gilgit, hunza and all places , you have to order you lunch / dinner keeping in mind the
the time the hotel will take - They normally take 1-1/2 to 2 hours though they say 30-45 minutes - SO be careful
The hotel is on bank of River Indus - beautifuly Built , have lawns towrads river - food is OK BUT
the rooms Don't have AC's and in the tough weather of Chilas its difficult though they installed room coolers
The rates are from Rs- 3,500 to 4,500 and Rs- 6,500 ( Cololer istalled rooms ) seems to be on higher side But as
the only good hotel aftrer Besham and before Gilgit - they can demand this
FROM Chilas the Gilgit is around 133 km
