Faulty battery is sold by New Capital battery, Islamabad

I got my AGS battery replaced with a new FB battery last year from a shop in melody Islamabad. It was my mistake to get the new battery from their shop because the last battery of AGS had worked for 5 years and still there had been no problem while starting the car ever. I was just careful that as that was an automatic car, it might have created some problem in starting amidst the road. But, despite its full maintenance like the older one, it got out of order after 9 and half months. I thought it might be some problem with vehicle but the electrician after checking it told me that my battery was totally useless that needs replacement with another one. When I show him the warranty card he said its warranty started from date of manufacture where it was manufactured a year before its sale so the dealer would not accept the claim. So friends do check the date of manufacture before getting a new battery because the shopkeepers often sell their old batteries and give you a warranty. The stored battery may get faulty early, even before its warranty, and when you go to claim for that they start pointing out your mistakes like how you change distilled water, how many days a week you drive the vehicle, and so on..

You should have taken it to the battery vendor and atleast try availing the warranty.

warantee starts from day of purchase, normally its 6 months, some companies r still giving a yr of warantee
shop is not at fault .. they dont manufacture batteries, these come in packing
the shelf life of a new battery is 4-5 years, so a year old battery is perfectly ok.
one thing is always ensured for longer life of battery, the electrolyte solution should always be prepared in distilled water and first charge be done on low current. other than that ur alternator should be good, if bot these conditions were met that it could be poor manufacturing which is quite common these days

it 10-12 days over the warantee, if only u had called the shop on the mobile no given, still u can try, but do change ur electrician. warantee card must be there with u, its clearly written that warantee starts from date of purchase.

battery and oil etc prices keep going up every six months. big dealers over stock and sell at new rate to make more profit on them

Yes please you should have gone back to the vendor and ask them to check the battery.

Back in June 2018 I bought a pair of batteries for UPS with a August 2016 stamp on those... but the warranty started from the date bought those batteries in June 2018

Hi there,
Sorry to hear about the bad experience of buying a battery with no actual warranty. It's valuable that shared your experience here on this forum and warned all the fellows to save them from such a damage or nuisance.
On the other hand, it is my idea you must go to the seller once and brief him the whole situation. It might have helped you. By meeting the seller perhaps, you and he could find out some middle way to solve the problem.

The electrolyte needs to be prepped with distilled water and lab grade sulphuric acid (CP product)

I guarantee you, no shop will prep it with the right acid. The customer wont return for years - its bad business for them.

Same reason mechanics use 20w50 and keep on washing throttle bodies and tell customer to have car washed and oil sprayed.

All these ensure car owners keep coming back to them.
