FAW or Suzuki Every (for my own children pick-drop, daily = 55 km)

Dear All

The title says all. I live near Bahria Town Rawalpindi/Islamabad. My children goes to school in H-11 sector. I have a driver to cater for children need.

Currently, I have an old (very old 1993) Suzuki Khyber for the job. It seems quite expensive to run in its current setting (doing around 7 km/L). Economy is the biggest concern, second is comfort. I had its engine worked a bit (rings changed) so now it is not consuming oil but still consuming loads of petrol. My last try would be to change the carburetor. Plan to put in the Chinese Mehran's carburetor.

If that fails, I will move on to one of the two possibilities and I am having a hard time decide between them; FAW XPV or Suzuki Every! Both fit in, more or less, the same budget. New Dual AC FAW costs 900K, whereas 30-40k driven 2010-2011 every costs around 850k.

Help me decide with two (or probably 3 options). How do you compare them?

XPV is good choice.
Reasons: brand new ,1000 cc , dual Ac.
Company fitted seat .
(If you want to buy a Jdm 660cc Van then buy Hijat )

I am a recent convert to JDM, I would suggest an imported car. Why don't you look for a Moco or Mira? Using a Mira, highly satisfied with performance and mileage.

even though faw owners think that i'm paid by suzuki(and i love to put fuel to the fire), i'd recommend an xpv here since i've used one and it would be better if you wish to hand it out to your driver.

regarding that khyber of yours, use cng if it is already installed for summer and get its carburetor completely tuned by someone who knows what he is doing and make sure all vacuum lines are properly connected(small plastic pipes, they can make the smoothness of your khyber from mehranish to better than cultus and fuel economy difference of 2-3 kpl) after all vacuum pipes are properly set get the distributor timing set and make sure its advance mechanism is working properly.

p.s. i'm also using a Khyber and its distributor advance gets stuck(though i've adapted my driving habits to make it work properly and gonna get it cleaned and working properly soon) which makes the cars acceleration get stuck even though one has floored it.(feels like you've hit the rev limiter). it wastes a lot of fuel.

take the car to sultan ka khoo for carburetor work
and look for the butterfly repair shop
they will open it up and replace everything needed or even make a new butterfly if needed (keep expense of 2 to 3000 in mind )

and we have alot of CNG stations open in this area. Khyber does very good mileage on cng.
if you have the kit laying around, get it installed back

Thank you everybody for their suggestions and comments.
My last try with Khyber is to get the carburetor replaced and tune up one last time. If I am satisfied with the end result, I may keep it. Else I will switch to Every or XPV. From reviews and posts, I have started developing a tilt towards XPV!
