FAW V2 Owner's Review

Do you personally own v2? How's the availability of parts? I can see FAW doesn't have showrooms in all major cities. Doesn't it create problem in claiming warranty or other service issues?

No i dont own a v2....but i have heard it is a good car from various users.....as for parts anc showroom issues.....you can contact their showroom in islamabad i-9......they can guide you better on this....

Well i am quite far away from Islamabad. Actually i am in Hyderabad and i don't think there is any FAW showroom here. I have also checked on their website.

Assembly something for someone and using a technology are completely different things they assembly a thing for Toyota under Toyota license it belongs to Toyota they can't even put there batch on but if they use there tech Toyota can go legal on them or they will have to pay for it using different engine code and changing bore and stroke done by FAW to give it there own name and it is reverse engineered

Most of the Chinese automakers have JVs with either European, Japanese or American brands and most of those JVs are based Technology Transfer Agreements as it is the requirement of Chinese Government. So is the case with FAW-Toyota, FAW- VW.

They use their partners platforms as well as engine technology in their products. FAW B30 has a VW engine it it and eemven the engine codes are derived from VW. So, it is not Reverse Engineering.

Yes, I agree that they can't use the exact engines but the technology behind it is derived from their Partners.

Assembling something for somebody does give you an ability to make that same thing for yourself under 'license'.

It doesnt necessarily have to be reverse engineered.

FAW assembles cars for alot of automakers so it has the facility.

Go for v2, bigger and spacious, wagon r is good for daily running within city only, has pathetic back seats, v2 is a complete family car like the old cultus was, i own one and going good till now, have driven 35k till now, body parts are only available at dealerships, but filters & routine periodic maintenece can be done from any where, e.g for filters u can use the vitz one or the guard filters..
And about financing i think only upto 5 years is being offered by different banks...

We can call it whatever, but it is the absolute truth that it is reverse engineering as no ingenious innovation on Faws part like you rightfully said so sir, but I see that as a good thing and it's evident because just look at the peak power output and torque absolute exact rpms at the peak for all three engines which I mentioned, I agree that many engines may have same peaking point but then these are vvt so that is a considerable factor because the two Toyota motors are evolved versions (one of the other) and then this has evolved into the double vvti version found in new vitzs (r series), even the head resembles , but it is good for owners here , mechanics can work on these almost eyes closed, even altis which is now so common will be more difficult to understand for mechanics.

Aoa FAW V2 owners. I am planning to get FAW V2 leased. I need your honest advice that whether should i buy V2 or go for Wagon R. Also tell me if banks are offering lease of FAW upto 7 years? Thanks

Both are Good and Popular Vehicles, Choice is depending upon your Needs and Priorities. If you want Resale and a small Car for City drive only then Wagon R is your Car, But Keep in mind Wagon R is not Safe Car its tall boy design, its seats are not much Comfortable. If you need a Car with Safety Features like ABS brakes, Airbags, better Road Grip for Highway Drive then V2 is your Car, but keep in mind V2 has not good Resale value. From Lease Point of view I will advise go for Cash buy and dont lease bcz it will cost you alot, and after 7 years when you will sale your car it has been depreciated enough then you will feel bad. Wagon R is on 6 months booking while V2 is on 2 months booking. Keep in mind Both Wagon R and V2 have minor Issues like Wagon R have vibration issues, loosing power on AC etc. While V2 also have some issues like Wind Ingress on high speed, Noise from suspension and steering column on bumpy roads etc. so wrt problems and issues both are almost same. Not much difference in my view.

Kehtay to hain Alhaj FAW walay ke local mein ye issues address karin gay magar Pakistani itnay achay kahan, Quality issues to Suzuki Honda Toyota sab mein hi aatay hain, maanta kon hai apnay failure ko.

This might help to make your mind:

Wagon R (1.0) is fuel efficient compared to V2 (1.3)
Wagon R having good resale value (although showroom price is too high compare to features provided)
Wagon R is better for within city use due to fuel economy, resale, and parts and mechanic availability.

FAW V2 is better in case you want to have long drives (more safety features and road grip).

Conclusion:
Buying a new car in the limited budget came up with limited choices(currently Wagon R and Faw V2 are only the two fits best), but in case you have some trusted person/mechanic who can help you to buy 2nd hand cars then go for Japenese car.

Finally received the long awaited call that my faw v2 is ready to be delivered. IA will be receiving it on monday. Will post the pictures and my experience. The guy at the showroom is asking for 40000 for rawalpindi registration and 65000 for islamabad registration (non-filer). Anybody who knows about this thing kindly guide about registration cost and annual token tax of V2
