FAW V2 Owner's Review

While you brought it up, let me make a point here that almost every wagon r owner goes and gets his Tyres changed, is asking for places to get alloy rims, how to get rear power windows and fog lights etc. And they can't get ABS and airbags from the aftermarket unfortunately. Fact is, every manufacturer makes a car providing what they deem fit, the rest u have to add by urself. People change Tyres of newly bought city and Corolla because they come with the Generals, however, V2's Hankook work till even 70k kms as we have seen people using it. In that case, that should not be required of a new car either. But that happens. And I would reiterate here, that I believe that we are too harsh on V2 for its small problems, but ignore big issues in Suzuki cars. I think this is such an example.

As for the cooling of the ac, well it doesn't depend on the engine capacity, rather the cooling system. V2's ac is decent means it is on par with vitz as I have observed. It works well in 45 46 temperatures of Lahore and I haven't felt it to be lacking anything. I haven't checked wagonr's ac much, but I have observed that of JDM keis, V2's ac is much better than them. And let me add that I have a small temperature sensor installed in my cabin and the temperature can be easily maintained below 28 in extremely hot temperatures.

As for suspension and other noises, wait for some time, the wagon r will make more noises than a V2 at any given time in their lives I have observed that first hand, and it has also been observed by @donefromhell in another forum, so that's not only me.

right on the money. people are being too harsh on v2. they forget what goodies are they getting in very competitive price tag but keep bashing it for very minor issues. v2 offers a complete package, the air insulation and noises are not that much of a deal breaker. the only issue i think Faw has is its dealership. ive been reading reviews of many v2 owners saying that the dealership was not very cooperative. they need to work on that. we are a nation who has been living with mehran and altos and cultuses-old shape (all cars are noisy as f*#k) but still love them.. we seriously need to move on. my fiend just bought a mehran brand new and from very first day he is having this ghrum ghrum sound from front left suspension. suzuki 3s people say it is generic fault and it goes away with "Diesel" spray. would you believe that. wagon R has few issues, vibrations in the cabin of engine being one of them. ive also read somewhere on PW that wagon R (few of them) had valve seals issue and few cars were repaired within first few thousands kms. and lets not talk about the new cultus since it is way too much costly and i guess price alone gets it out of competition anyway.

All of you are putting very valuable input, i must admire FAW for providing such rich features in this price tag, but on the other hand it is also important to address these cabin and suspension noises, why give a chance to these small issues and noises to ruin the greatness and prospective sales of V2, let just not give a reason to anyone to criticize such a nice product just because of these minor problems, because it is a fact frequent visits to dealerships just because of noises really make the customer annoying and down in confidence. A new car should be trouble free, and I also understand even new machines can sometimes turned to be faulty but getting production continuing with these faults without any rapid resolution is not justified. V2 is a remarkable car but i think these small issues cant be ignored, achi aur reasonably priced biryani mai bhi agar baal nikal aye tou khai nahi jati yeh tou phir bhi 11 lac ki car hai

Exact point I would have made, I know for a fact that we are being too harsh on the car and ignoring major issues in Mehran and wagon r etc, heck even the cultus isn't issue free. In a nutshell we have a gut feeling that this car can't be real for this money so we go on and ignore it and buy another car, from there on human instinct takes over and we start bashing people who have bought it and our mind finds reasons to justify our decision to not buy it. Besides I know p well that plenty of people who bought Suzuki's faced terrible customer service support and had terrible paint quality. Also if we somehow manage to convince ourself to buy it, our mind jumps at an opportunity like if the car gives us issues down the line or we see spares are expensive we think to ourselves "I knew I shouldn't have bought it then, this had to happen". Even though plenty of Suzuki's need huge repairs after a short while because naturally in such a large sample size there are some defective units and most Suzuki's without offense are full of typical problems anyways. Even apple and Samsung have those which they replace under warranty, I had a Google pixel 2 that simply died on me in its second week but they replaced it because customer service is better in North America(hukamat ny danda Rakha hua hai), I wouldn't have been so lucky had I have been in Pakistan because the industry standard of customer services is poor.

Now the important bit, just because Suzuki does it and it's common, we shouldn't accept it we should encourage the new entrant to be an industry leader and to innovate but we should not bash them or hold these issues as reasons not to buy their product because these are present the same way in the direct competitors products too. It's a great car and there is no second way to look at it!

I raised the complain of engine noise insulation across many forums.....but i still believe it's an excellent car because aside from these small issues... its a treat to drive.....this little thing has to guts to challenge a 1.6 altis and stay neck to neck with it...i mean look at the price..... its lesser than half of an altis 1.6.....keep a light foot and its gives good average too.....its power windows motors are better than a city ( in my opinion)
I would really somebodys help on this forum in order to contact Alhaj faw....they should be actively given feedback and answers should be demanded from them alongside giving them suggestions...
I think someone is deliberately screwing up in middle managemrnt of FAW company......
I mean these are really non issues to be left aside.

Bro issues can't be and shouldn't be ignored for sure, but these are, honestly speaking, issues that would not warrant a recall in any country in the world, it would be like "the weak point of this car" and it's nice to see they are listening and still doing something about it, like in the case of the cabin insulation and rubbers in the doors.

I don't mean to offend Suzuki owners or bash Suzuki because I respect them for investing in our auto market at a time when they literally wasn't nothing and had no reason to invest here(auto industry sales were no good). Toyota and Honda entered into a more easier market. Especially Honda because they entered the lucrative bike market first if I'm not wrong. But the Mehran tyre change karana and first 10k kay Andar some ring or bushing is supposed to die on all 4 wheels. Also Mehran has other issues that are well documented because it's so old for eg Personally owning the air conditioned one I know you aren't supposed to change the position of the air to feet or whatever too often because the cable snaps(or the cheap white plastic tab for holding the cable breaks). You'll also be amazed not to find a fith gear(at least I was). With the wagon r I know people aren't happy with the breaks because they lock up (hence the abs in cultus vxl). The tyres is a recurring issue in Suzuki's lineup and it vibrates on idling after a while and the dashboard is also famed for making rattling sounds and like in the rest of the Suzuki lineup, paint quality sucks!

Confirmation Bias, the belief that what you think is right and then only looking at information that confirms that belief and ignoring that information that challenges your belief by terming it inconsequential. That is the case with V2. People assume it is not good, and then find reasons to support that belief.

I know one thing for sure that the cabin noise is not as big of an issue as is made up in the forum, so is the case with the suspension noise. Yes, the cabin is a little more noisy as compared to a corolla or a city, but why are we even comparing it with a corolla or a city? Those cars cost 50-100% more than the V2, and it competes with them in some aspects, but you just can't compare the two categories. It is unfair to every car in this comparison.

What is also unfair is the comparison with Suzuki. Wagon R and Cultus are not competitors of V2. One thing people overlook is that V2 is a subcompact hatchback, Wagon R is a Kei car and Cultus is a City car. They have lesser space for passengers and lesser space for luggage. They have lesser wheelbases, and are totally different categories. No matter what Suzuki does, it can't compensate for the difference in the wheelbase and thus the comfort level, handling and road grip in the V2 will always be better than the two Suzukis. V2 can host 5 fully grown adults as passengers adequately. Can't say the same for Wagon R and Cultus. V2 is even more spacious than the Swift, so comparison between Cultus and Wagon R is totally out of the question.

But of course, that is done here in Pakistan, because of the similar price brackets.Wagon R has seen issues in paint finishes, rust under the rubber parts, on the door welds etc. It has also had an issue with valve seals in some cars, and the valve seals were changed under warranty for some customers. These are what you can call serious issues. Something that can have a direct impact on the longevity of the car. V2 has had no engine related issues so far, as per my knowledge. I have known people who have driven upto 175k kms, and the engine is still going strong, no oil leakage or anything. The suspension is sturdy, the paint finish is adequate. As I said, the noises are a nuisance. If they bother u a lot, u can get them fixed. Get door rubbers, get some sound deadening, etc. But they are not a deal breaker, and they don't depict any issue in the build quality of the car. I have even seen people getting sound deadening done in their Civics, so it is a personal preference. Overall, the car is worth every penny you spend on it. And I am saying that with experience.

You said that cabin and suspension noises aren't that much as they are depicted in forums. Now I am confused. I haven't sat in V2 personally but a fond reader of V2 because I do like this car. I was even very close to buying this car on own but changed the decision at the end just because of boot as I needed a car with trunk. So coming back to the point, every owner of the car is complaining about suspension and cabin noise. If the noise is ignorable then it's fine but if it is too much then obviously one can get frustrated soon. I do wish to see this car or drive it to clear my doubts about the car. I can hardly see this car on road. Then I think if it is difficult to see this car on road then how come the company gives you 3 months delivery time? It should be available on ready delivery. Just a thought.

Yes, these are not as much as old Cultus or Mehran. But not as good as Vitz or Corolla or Swift. Interesting that you brought up the boot thing. The boot of V2 is quite spacious, while the Swift has 210L of space and Vitz's latest model has 284L, V2 has 320L of boot space, so quite the leader in hatchbacks, but of course not as big as a sedan obviously.

I personally get to see 2 3 V2s daily on my normal commute, and lately, these sightings are increasing day by day in Lahore. At my work, there are 4 or 5 I think, and the number is increasing, as a colleague has gone to take delivery of his car as we speak. Since the start of the local assembly, around 40-50 cars are sold by each dealership in Lahore per month, as per my knowledge, which is not definitive and can be off by a little, though not a lot.

The place where this car loses out on sales is the corporate sector. My brother had to go out of his way to get his case approved for this car, which is still in process. Same is the case with a few other people that I know of. For these people, they were sold on buying it, but the company policy only had provisions for Suzuki, Toyota or Honda. The corporates I know of where this has been a problem are AF Ferguson, Fatima Group and a few local corporates etc. So, that is a big market share being lost by this car. Another possible market that Suzuki automatically captures is the government sector. Acquisitions by these organizations mean that Suzuki cars get readily on the road and private buyers, seeing the car on the roads, buy these cars as well. This is a weak point of AHFM sales that I can identify.

Still, the car is competing well given the circumstances it has faced. The waiting period is legitimate, as I have seen in the case of the few people who have bought it, it is not artificially created. Though it is possible that the plant is not yet in its full production capacity, and will slowly get there. Can't say anything about that.

I am sorry, but I disagree with your point that every user is complaining about the suspension noise. Only those are complaining whose exect miracles from this car and compare it to Corolla and City. You guys can join V2 Owners page on FB and check their satisfaction level. I have been using it since more than 2 years now and I haven’t face any issue with the suspension. My friend bought the local assembled V2 and I compared it with mine. Air noise has decreased significantly due to door rubbers.

People complaining or spreading rumors about its quality mostly don’t own a V2 and are just spreading it because they don’t believe that there can be good Chinese products and that’s only their perception.

I find V2 the most reasonable car available in this price tag. Recently a pesticide company in Lahore has ditched WagonR and bought almost 65 units V2 and they are pretty much happy with their decision.

Its pretty simple, there is no comparison of the faw v2 in this price category , no comparison at all, its proved by the fact that everyone is comparing it with vitz, Corolla and city and the issues are, like I previously said , just issues we make up or tiny niggles we blow out of proportion to make our selves believe that it was the right decision to not buy the v2 and shower hate on it because we don't have a genuine reason. We can all deny it but most of us are guilty of at least once hating the v2, even the resale issue is alleviating slowly and there are plenty on the roads with numbers slowly incrementing , its going to be a success story !!! and I like the fact that we are all arguing and convincing each other that it is great. this argument here has only one side and everyone is trying to sell that side and this might well be the only argument both sides win

True. An auto variant at the same price would provide a nice alternative to Auto Swift and Cultus. V2's comparison is with Swift. Wagon-R is below it in chassis category, features and specifications. V2 cannot be compared to sedans like City, Corolla since that is a different category. Doing so is just deluding oneself.

Risks of having FAW out grow the benefits .In 1,119,000 is not cheap anymore . I tell you I was one of the few who bought Piaggio and struggle from the day one and look where this bike is i sold it on loss of over 30,000 Rs in just 1.5 years and 1,500 KM driven only so lesson here is cabin noise you can't live with it as it is unbearable or you turn deaf but here the big issue is going again and again to dealership to claim things which should not be a problem for new cars ,till the time FAW improves on basic things we dont need SRS Airbags we need decent fuel efficient ABS cars and if all basic features and criteria is met then airbags are OK .Why you buy a new car is simple question that is reliability ,Imagine if your mother ,sister is driving the same car and these issues are coming
