FAW V2 Owner's Review

I have been driving my V2(full moon silver) for over three weeks since I got it, I have not experienced any brake noise at all. My brothers' been driving his V2(red) for around 7 months and he never experienced any brake issue as well, he has even travelled to Kaghan Naran/Abbotabad/Murree in his V2 without any issue. I think it is the typical Pakistani mind set (no offense to anyone, I somewhat include myself in this category as well) that we cannot believe that something good can come from China. Its not our (consumers) fault, we are used to seeing the cheapest stuff from China. Now for a change someone has imported something good from China, I think we should take this as a positive step rather than criticize. After all we are flying Chinese fighter jets...

Precisely bro, I think it's lack of knowledge nothing else. On one hand we criticize the quality of cheap Chinese goods, on the other the iPhone manufactured by Foxconn in China is one of the most sought-after gadgets in the world. China also produces high quality goods which meet stringent US and EU standards. We need to keep up with the times in this fast changing world and give credit where its due instead of being cynical all the time. Most of my contacts who know a bit about cars have appreciated the V2.

Some people are working round the clock to spoil the image of v2 by calling it china mal but on the other hand they are appreciating suzuki WagonR which is locally manufactured.In its base model you wont find an Ac unit .. Comeon .. 10 lac and no ac ..

The offering of cars without ACs should be a punishable crime looking at how hot it gets in Pak. It's become a necessity.

Untill now no major problem faced.That squeaky voice was faced once but then dealership changed the brake and now it's fine.
Me and my brother both are loving this car,I guess anyone looking for a car in this range should go for it.

Faw v2 Launched in Russia. Certainly an uplift. A per my knowledge, it was launched first in Russia then in other countries

IMHO you can not call squeaking brake pads = failure. As I have told earlier my v2 brakes were also squeaking in the beginning but after a few time of cleaning on each service checkup they are now working fine. I have travelled 15000kms on these brakes and never faced any problem. There are few issues with some of FAW dealerships like the one in I-9 islamabad. But lots of people including me have made complaints to the higher management and they have promised to make things better. They have earlier cancelled the dealership of FAW twin city in i-10 islamabad due to complaints so i think they are going to do something about it for sure.

I don't know its collision test rating, but it has taken bump well. Cabin feels unhurt - Good Job

The V2 has a rating of 31.2 points (3 stars) according to C-NCAP. Testing protocol mandates that all cars (including base variants) must carry at least airbags and ABS to get its certification; and so on that count alone the Indian Swift model failed the test even before the crash happened. The Pakistani Swift is similar to the Maruti Swift (no airbags but it has ABS). In the case of the Swift, the crash analysis showed the crash-test-dummies having sustained near-fatal injuries, more so in the case of the driver. The car's structural integrity was also deemed as unstable. The made-in-Europe swift has a 5 star rating. The Latin American version of Swift with airbags and ABS has a 3 star rating.

So basically, Swift with ABS AND airbags and the V2 both have a 3-star rating. Keep in mind that the Pak Swift is already a few lakhs more expensive than the V2 and it doesn't have airbags. With airbags it would cost even more.

Driving the Swift at 170 kmh (the NCAP test which the Swift failed is conducted at 64 kmh) is a no less than a death wish, particularly looking at Pakistani roads, traffic conditions and lack of safety features of most vehicles. If you don't have much regard for your own life, at least don't jeopardize the life of others.

Its never about V2 being not a good car. Its due to lack of support which people are in fear of in long run, we have enough reasons to worry because of Nissan, Mitsubishi, kia, hyundai, proton, fiat etc all failed in a long run and i can only blame goverment and its policies towards auto industry that allowed 3 auto makers to divide market share among themselves only. I sincerely hope FAW will establish itself in auto industry so we can get some options and a chance of competition.

Agreed. Governments in the West do their utmost to create a highly competitive environment which ultimately favors consumers. They make it easy for new entrants into the market and support them. When companies engage in anti-competitive behavior like some Pakistani companies do, they are heavily scrutinized and punished. Unfortunately all this talk about this government being pro-business is just empty talk. On one hand they want to attract investors to Pak, on the other they're doing nothing to protect the interests of potential new entrants. This is particularly true for the auto industry. Local assemblers collude and lobby the government to protect their interests and the government obliges.

FAW is a Chinese state-owned company so perhaps they have a better chance of sticking around looking at how Chinese investments and products are featuring heavily now in the local market and with the upcoming CPEC, this presence will only expand. Their sales aren't doing bad either so let's be optimistic =)

I did not find people having V2 have complained about having bundles of problems with the V2 except for the brake squeaking sound which I would not consider as a serious problem if it is being resolved. Would like to read it if you can refer to any such bundles.

As a user, dual airbag is very important to me, whether I am driving at 170km/h or at 70km/h. It may not always me my fault. Maybe a Swift owner might hit some V2 owner (ALLAH na karay) at 170km/h and the damage would be same. Zindagi aur Maut ALLAH ke haath mein magar Safety/Prevention is always better that cure.

I have been following this forum/Blog since the very begining and I have not seen any User/Owner of the V2 complaining about any serious problem being faced by them.

I think you should be comparing apple with an apple. Either you compare it with Wagon-R (Price-wise with all the specs and features) or yoshould compare it with Swift (Again price-wise and them Features and performance). You should have also provided the mileage of your Swift which is 1.3l with the fuel average/mileage of V2 and not with Wagon-R which is 1.0l.

There must be Pros and Cons with every single car being made all over the world.... But I would say that in Pakistan V2 is the best package against the money I have spent. I am using V2 for almost 1 year and I have not faced a single problem yet. The only money I have spent on my V2 is on Oil change/Filters and Fuel, nothing else ALHAMDOLILLAH. It is performing brilliantly up till now.

I did never ever meant that FAW v2 is not good car or it's less then Swift or either Wagon R ,it's actually too good car such features in a Zero meter car should be provided, with an good price tag,

On the forum most customers Seem satisfied but I did mentioned about "Bundle issues "they are minor but they matter as new Car is not supposed to have any, well issues are mentioned by @bilalahm Page 57 post #1123

Also my Car's mileage was asked so here are the figures, swift when Driven heavy foot it Gives 6-7 kmpl when Light foot it does gives 9-11 within city & on Long route around 14-15,
Swift shape is old in Pakistan also I do know in other countries there have been K series engine for it which is far more economical & better then M13A ,monopoly should also be broken FAW V2 no doubt features wise is great but the only question is about is reliabilty in Long run which I meant earlier , for example lasting without any Major issues for around 6-7 years & 150k driven & no problems ,even Liana's use to last till 50-60k which was a big flop car.This long term question is not because it is from China but because it's a new Brand to Pakistani Market. I will be among those to buy it In future,only I wan't to be convinced that this car will serve me without any major issues even after 5 year & 100k driven, which in comparison to Wagon R they will be able to survive ,even though they would have too less features compared to V2.

Also I took my swift to 170 at Motorway not on Gulberg or defence roads & there was no car in front of me & I did slowed down it back to 110 after just touching 170 with all safety measures I can do, i did not meant to show off or to be cool that I am a great Racer Driver which I am not ,whenever I drive fast/race i take all the Precautionary measures, there wasn't anything to exaggerate the way many did.:-#
