FBR Notice due to registration of car, need advice and help

it happens mostly when brand new cars are bought and registered that too above 1M rs. no big deal. a lawyer may do it for you in 1000-2000rs. Or, write a letter as already suggested and claim the car as a gift

You did wisely by registaring the car in your name as its your propoerty.
As you say you are a student, you should not be afraid to walk to FBR with your student ID card, along with copies of all the documents showing that money was provided by your grandfather.
Still, if they are not convinced tell them that you can provide undertaking from your grandfather that its a gift to you.

Honesty is the best policy, and you have nothing to be afraid of. Its just bit of hassle.
Take it as 1st step in practical life.

This undertaking needs to be on a stamp paper right for it to be valid or can we use a simple paper with his signatures???

My car was ISB registered and I also got a notice 3 months back. I simply wrote a letter in reply that I am a student and attached a letter by the institute "To whom it may concern" that mentioned that I was a full time student in that institute. I also wrote that my parents purchased it and gifted it to me. Still no reply from their end and it has been about 2 months I have replied them.

So you wrote a reply and attached a bonafide letter from your institute proving to them you are a student there, is that all you did???

Brother I have been umder similar circumstances few times. What you needed to do was generate some white income before purchasing anything on your name. Only the money you received through remittance from your grandfather will be counted as your white income provided you have the slips and did not waste them ! Remittance through any channel I-e any bank or western Union etc is counted as white income. You can show those slips to fbr officials similarly if your father is a tax payers and he has enough white money then you can prove that he bought you this car or lended money to you ! Don't worry this ain't that difficult

Bro like I mentioned, I saved up the money in my bank account little by little throughout the year until I had enough to make the purchase. My grandfather gave me some cheques from his local bank account and the rest he gave me cash or through a money exchanger who would transfer the money directly in my account. So I don't think I can prove this as remittance now can I???

Kindly share exactly how you tackled this issue and how did you reply them??? You can send me a PM if you are hesitant but I'll really appreciate your input.

I have 2 cars registered under my name....both Islamabad....Allhumdollilah i havent recieved any such notice yet.... Hopefully i wont either but as most suggested simply type in a letter confirming that you are a student and this was gift from you grandfather who is an Overseas Pakistani.

Worst case scenario govt offices being the usual themselves will ask for some "service charges" not the legal kind that is and will let it pass or atleast ull be able to find out what the proper procedures are for filing something in regard to the situation....

Bro it's not a brand new car, it's a 2011 model and I'm the third owner, the second owner kept it on open letter so I had to register it to be safe. What kind of lawyer would help with this and how???

Do you think that writing them back and showing proof that I am a student and telling them it was gift will be sufficient???

Yea just go to the person whose signatures are on the lettet witl all proof of documents. That should solve it. Same happened to me.

Yar take your dad's account details and income proof, and any sort of sale deed etc which helped in money accumulation. Also a letter from your college stating that u r a student. And an application by you stating all the stuff points wise. Pm if u want to know more details. It was baxk in 2011 when they sensed New property. And also last yr for my mom bcz of New car registration. Take all stuff and meet the undersigned. They all sit in tax house at nabha road Lahore. Us ke baad this yr was sakoon. So relax. It happens.

one was 2011 1.6 GLI....back then with the registration i think it cost me around 18.25 or 18.50.....and the second was November last year again a 2010 Passo which cost me around 19k for registration (got it done through agent). All in all Passo cost me around 11.90

That still doesnt justify financial gains which made u get the car. I woukd rrecommend attaching other stuff as well which I wrote. At least I am in.peace for past 2.5 yrs aftet I submitted all.
