FBR Notice due to registration of car, need advice and help

Yeah - I have had my share of FBR problems. First of all, whatever you earned freelancing is supposed to be tax free because you are bringing in Dollars into the economy. You can disclose it, however getting an NTN will bring you into the system and you will have to file returns for the rest of your life.

I have received such letters for many things such as heavy phone bills etc...

Get all of the cheques copies and the copies of the bank statement plus tell them that you are student and do it through a tax consultant.

Dont get it on your nerves, as I suggested earlier just go and meet the guy. He will tell you what documents are required for their satisfaction. You are a small fish they will not be interested to fry you.

same case here, just been informed by my dad, he has received letter from FBR regarding my import of Premio which is registered in his name. Dad is retired and rely on my remittances from UK, which i do all legal through UBL or HBL regularly, in case of purchase of car one of the major amount I used my UK Bank to international SWIFT transfer GBP to foreign currency account of my sister because of better exchange rates and my dad doesnt have foreign currency account. I have all the remittances receipts of transfers to dad and sisters account. So from UK side I have all things to prove during the purchase of the car, on Pakistan side only anomaly would be transaction from sister account to father which was withdrawn GBP, exchanged, then deposited cash to my dad account and/or directly deposited to importer!

I am in London and my dad is in Lahore at present so any help would be nice is writting a letter with all receipts copies will be enough? or visit to FBR is a must?

1. if you're unemployed just write them a letter with documents how you purchased the car
2. if salaried then you have to file income tax return

Bhaijan I am employed in UK and pay taxes here to the tune of 40% already, My dad is in Lahore and doesnt work since last 10 years, he is retired from government service and rely on my remittances and car was imported and paid by me but registered in my dad's name!

I will ask him to pay visit to FBR office and send him the supporting documents from my side, lets see how it goes.

visiting them would be good though only sent a mail to them with all the documents and proof. Let's see what comes out of it.

Buddy did your family own any agricultural land?
if yes then told to FBR that you got money from agricultural land as there isn't no tax at agriculture yet as per my knowledge.
and there isn't no receipt if you got money especially if you gave it to third party on rent means (Theka) & also gave them the evidence that you are active student from your institute & you are good to go

Bro, consult a good lawyer (or better if you have a lawyer in your family). Nothing to worry about. Even they send notices to Govt officers as well... our text (public servants) is deducted even before our salaries are transferred in our accounts. Still those of us who didn't had NTN was reminded by notices to get NTN numbers. So not to worry about it. Go yourself to FBR office and meet the undersigned but before this meet at least once to a lawyer and get legal consultation on it.

I think the letter was from the commissioner and it said send your answer on the following address again the commissioners office. Which ever letter you will receive it will clearly be mentioned where to respond and to whom.

Guys I sent my reply through TCS a few days back to FBR and mentioned this address on the package:

Income Tax Department, Income Tax House, Nabha Road, Lahore

The TCS guys have returned the package saying provide exact address with relevant department as there are three separate departments in that building and unless I mention the department they can't deliver the package. So I went to the Tax House on Nabha Road and as it was a holiday yesterday I could only speak to the security guard who said their is RTO1 , RTO2 and NTN departments in this building.

Now the letter I received is from the Commissioner of HQ in Islamabad and the other address in the letter is " Income Tax House, Nabha Road, Lahore " where I sent the package and was undelivered by TCS.

So guys please tell me where I should mail this package, should I mail it to Lahore or Islamabad which is the FBR headquarters and the exact address and the department/person of both Lahore and Islamabad which I should mention on the TCS package as I'll mail it to both this time. A friend of mine told me just send it to Islamabad because the local tax officers peechai paar jaingai for khaarcha paani and the Islamabad ones are out of city to shayyad lehaaz karlain.

Please don't suggest to go meet the tax officers or tax consultants, I don't have time nor the funds nor the skills to be pushed around by them. In the end I know they will ask for kharcha paani so I want to try tackling this through mail first.
