Intro: Fiat first established a sales outlet in India back in 1905 with the appointment of Bombay Motor Cars. After the 2nd World War a manufacturing agreement was set up with Premier Automobiles Limited (PAL). In 1997 Fiat and PAL established a separate company, Fiat Automobiles Pvt Ltd. Italy holds a 51 per cent share and 49 per cent is with PAL. Initally the company started production of the various models built on the Project 178 world car platform, namely the Siena and the Palio family. The Uno small car was also added to the range .

Intro: Bajaj Tempo Ltd started importing and manufacturing Tempo 3-wheelers from Germany back in the late 1950s.
Expanding the business in 1961, the Company acquired about 150 acres of land in Akurdi near Pune. The production was transferred to Pune by the end of 1964.
The manufacture of TEMPO VIKING 4-Wheeled Trucks & Vans commenced in November 1964. The licensed capacity was increased to 6000 vehicles per year. The VIKING vehicle subsequently was upgraded with a diesel engine and the MATADOR was born in 1969.
In 1975, the manufacturing capacity of Bajaj Tempo Limited was increased to 12,000 vehicles per year, in addition to 6,000 diesel engines for other purposes.
In July 1982, Bajaj Tempo Limited started a new collaboration - with the then Daimler Benz Co.- to produce the Mercedes Benz OM 616 engine under license for fitting on its line of vehicles. The Tempo Trax vehicle, specifically designed for the rough roads of rural India was developed by the Company’s Research & Development department, to cater to the growing mechanisation of passenger transport in rural India.
In 1996, Tempo introduced a new range of Three Wheelers - MINIDOR - pick up and auto rickshaw
In 1999, Tempo introduced state of the art Light Commercial Vehicles - The EXCEL range.
Continuing with the efforts to introduce new products, Tempo in the year 2000 introduced two new - highly refined vehicles - specially designed for the Indian market.- Trax JUDO and Trax GAMA.
In May 2005 Bajaj Tempo Ltd changed its name to Force Motors Ltd.
