I'd sadly have to disagree with all of those who have advised you to go for the car.. the car might have been an award winner internationally, but those that were assembled and then sold in pakistan were anything but.. crap is the word that would suitably define it..
We had the opportunity of sampling one such local example back when it was newly launched in 2001, and to be honest, the experience with it was just traumatic.. everything from the fuel gauge to clutch cylinder, from the power windows motors to the horn, from coolant pipes (all the radiator coolant would somehow end up in the front passenger leg area :S) to brakes and the engine mounts, almost everything that could possibly go wrong, went wrong..! not to mention the timing belt that conked out prematurely, causing considerable motor damage..! Moreover, the radiator that it comes with from the factory isn't effective enough to keep the engine's temp down in summers, especially if the A/C is on.. I'd like to mention here that our cars get the best of the treatment, so it wasn't the case of neglect on our part either, it's just that the car really was a good for nothing piece of junk in its original form..
Ultimately we had to sell it off only about using it for 1.5 years or so, after losing approximately 60% off its original price..
Now for the upsides, the car's motor is just phenomenal with almost endless torque.. boy, does it haul like anything..! I remember taking it all the way to the very top of Nathiagalli with 5 of my friends on board..! and man, it didn't skip even a beat..! although it gave us some heating-up problems a day earlier (thanks to all the engine coolant evaporating somehow).. I reasonably believe the engine's absolute torque might have also contributed to the mounts giving way in first place..
If only that car was well built using better materials, it would have been such a gem of a vehicle..by the time when we sold it, all the bugs had almost been ironed out since we chose to use more reliable parts from other manufacturers, after the OEM parts let us down repeatedly.. e.g. the clutch cylinder was replaced by that from some Mercedes and the engine mounts by those from a diesel corolla..and the power-window motors were also replaced by some japanese brand..
Now if you can put up with so much of a hassle and fuss, go for the car then, otherwise stay away or you'll curse the day you bought it..especially if its going to be your only vehicle..
