I was using havoline 20w-50 API SG(Blue one) but few days back I accidentally got Havoline 20w-50 API SM(green one) filled in my car one is specified as motor oil and other is specified as CNG(means for CNG cars) I own a 1994 corolla se limited saloon with 1,22,000 mileage which is totally petrol driven will this oil have any bad impact on my car or I should not worry and be easy?
@Xulfiqar
I think you should avoid both these oils. And move to 10W40 as this is a very thick oil. Which engine your car has? And these kms are on stock engine?
Its perfectly alright. API SM is a more newer API standard that is backwards compatible with API SG. Also, there is no such thing as "cng specific" engine oil. This is just marketing jargon that local OMC's try peddling to us.
You shouldn't worry and be easy as API SM is a newer standard which covers pretty much everything API SG has.
I hope it helps.
Its not for cng cars,cng is the company model name for this oil
Use whichever you want. Come on man there is nothing to worry about. They just slap stickers on these oils to make money.
10w-40 or 10w-30 oil grade will be good choice at next oil change.
