hello people!!!!

its been a while......well been busy with alot of intense stuff taking place at the moment in my life.......tense stuff ....

but as always look to my music for solace..............apart from going active in the future for the moment looking at this object that someone posted on another p99 thread I am subscribed too.....

let me know if anyone has experience with this or has used this before......As I am planning on purchasing the C4 Colorfly and pairing it with my P99 ......

if anyone has used this let me know

You don't need it, use the ipod instead since this wouldn't by pass the dsp whilst the iPod does.Another advantage is you can convert your flacs into alac which is also lossless and takes much less space.

I think this would be a dual purpose thing. Although I have an ipod the nano i think it is I barely listen to it even during jogging or lifting. Even during exercise I prefer some calm. But With this I think at times i could use it to play music on the go as well.

The biggest plus for me for this over the nano is the flac files. Although Alac is superb flac as you know is as close to cd or near perfect copy as there is. With this the ability to play flac is there which sadly the P99 lacks. And the memory is not bad.

I could just burn most of my music to flac, then store it on my Elements external hard drive and then pick and choose which cds or sets to store in the Colorfly depending which mood I am in .Then chop and change again from my hard drive and the colorfly.

Hello brother!!

Cannot take the credit for the discovery of this product as I ran across it on a thread for p99 owners . This guy was choosing either this or some other product. When i clicked on it and researched it , I fell in love with it. I agree with you the Flac playing ability is what sold me apart from the symphony quality near perfect sonics of it. The guy who made it was quite an enthusiast;)

That's because you're using mp3s which are converted to aac, download flac convert it to alac then try it.

Found out that since the p99 upscales the ipod when connected to it could possibly do the same with the Colorfly......

Found out that since the p99 upscales the ipod when connected to it could possibly do the same with the Colorfly......

Colorfly-> Auxiliary port -> analog signal so colorfly's own dsp is used.

Ipod->p99 bypasses it's dsp-> takes the raw data inside it's own dsp and then processes the raw file giving us lossless audio.

I bet you have noted down the different tonal changes with different additions...............

Like I told you when we spoke my friend got the colorfly for me ..............it did sound amazing.........I must say....however, here was the catch....to me it did not cause any significant improvement in the car but as a standalone object for say exercising, walking, reading a book

it was what I imagine heaven is but in my ears.....................It was sounding too delicious......once my friend heard me play it...requested that I give it to him instead............ well since he was the one who took the trouble of getting it for me from abroad............. You know the rest.....but I advise you to use whatever it is you are buying as a standalone mp3 player ...

at least for me the 99 in my car was more than enough bliss for my ride....just have to go to the next level now...when I can.........

Sir final install is due next week. With mere additions yes the difference has been phenomenal

Sir the difference via aux would have been negligible. However I have some other plans and by this I could by-pass the DSP and allow it to run loseless just like a CD is supposed to run. Colorfly I suppose supports various bit rates which other players of the same category don't. Thats a plus point. However you can get a simple one with runs 92kHz/24-bit on its Wolfson DAC for around $200.

I am planning something similar to this, was wondering if you still have Colorfly, I could try it before making the investment
For me it will play FLACs directly transmitting the signals via the digital output to my headunit. Mp3 is no use, I can use the AUX for that via my phone or Zune, however I hate the quality that goes through. (Shitty RCA to 3.5mm I have)

Exactly my point Yawar bhai. Depends the 99 would not let its Dac be by passed at least not by me....so I could not get the true taste of the Colorfly....Its selling point for me and negative of the 99 is the ability of the colorfly to play lossless as the 99 did not........quite an anomaly as cheaper entry point pres of kenwood and pioneer now play lossless ....but thats another story...........

We will talk to discuss our meet up and I will contact my friend to see if he is here and can give the colorfly if not I will find out from him when he is coming back so that I could organise that for you but make no promises:)

Great setup bro ! Why dont you convert FLAC files into WAV Linear PCM 48kHz files (slightly better than CD quality) and run them off usb through P99? Im doing the same with 80PRS.

flacs are made from cds. converting them to better than cd format is not going to improve the sound quality
