ASSALAM O ALAIKUM!!
I’m planning to buy a 79 Cressida for my self and I’m getting one in a fairly good price. I’ve never built a car tho , but I’ve been into cars since i was a kid so there are few things I want to know,(I’ll be thankful JazakAllah)
First with the Cressida I’m buying, it’s mechanically good, fourth owner and the body is in good condition too.
- I’m planning to swap a 2jz gte or a 1jz single turbo with the stock engine. How much would both of them cost in Karachi? And which one should I go for referring to power and mileage.
- Any suggestion/advice about the suspension system?
I’m willing to make this a daily driven but a powerful drift machine. I know these are two whole different things but I’ll figure something out xx

a drift machine in the hands of a 19 year old is a death trap.
All that looks cool on the screen, but in real life, its no joke, especially with the chaos that takes place on our roads.

Yeah I know about the traffic and the chaos on our roads but You can find a peaceful place, at a peaceful time And then have some fun with the car?!
Chaos on our roads is a deathtrap even to people who drive peacefully and safely not because of themselves but because of chingchi and rickshaw walay boys. You are driving peacefully and they come outta nowhere.
And yes, for my own safety, I’m planning to keep the car jab tak I’m in Pakistan so I’ll be spending on the roll cage and other safety stuff as much as I could too.

79 cressida is way too old and may require a lot of time, effort and money tO bring up to spec. Engine swaps are a bit tricky and turbo ones give a lot of problems. It requires a lot of hard work. I would suggest picking a relatively newer car.
I dont know how good is its handling as well.

m3 has quite a lot of safety electronics, your cressida will be raw power.
Anyways, its not impossible, its fairly costly but doable, i have seen people put in uzs into cressidas, so jzs won't be much of a hassle.
Just look for the correct place and go down the proper line, no cost cutting.

since you want it for drifting handling is more important than raw power. you may need to lower it if its high and check its brakes

cressida is not right machine for drifting.

look for corolla coupe 1972-1983 rear wheel drive corolla.

@babarhashmi used to had one rebuild @KamranAslam knew that vehicle was a top notch rebuilt. he disposed it off and now that Cressida is botched useless vehicle.

First of all, are you a student with limited finances? If yes, then I would suggest you to leave this idea. Yes you can do it as a weekend build but it will take a lot of time (probably 2 years or so if everything's to be done properly without any jugaars).
Also, even if you manage to build one, it'll be a serious challenge to behave on public roads and any small badtameezi might lead to serious consequences.
