i personally use total.
remove all aftermarket electrical modifications , relays, or jugaars from the car they cause trouble 101% of the time.
i make sure my spare wheel is inflated, car jack and tools are all in place
replace old/weak batteries or keep a jumper cable and tow strap
replace or inspects parts according to car's owners manual
remove old coolant, and replace with fresh one. If coolant is rusty or brown in color then do a complete cooling system flush with liqui moly or other renowned brand, pressure test cooling system for leaks to avoid overheating and potentially destroying the engine/head-gasket.
Use All-Purpose Cleaner from 3m, nanoskin, meguiar's, chemical guys to remove interior grime, use microfiber towels if possible, use protectant (3m, meguiar's, formula1, turtle according to your budget)
For long drives: check alignment, coolant leaks, loose or torn belts, electrical system (ignition, alternator, battery, plug wires, distributor), get a/c serviced and refilled with gas (if needed)
Since your car is old, it will soon need its timing belt, water pump, bearings and belts changed (100k) so make sure to do that on time or ahead of time.
