Hi everyone
need to know good fishing points near ISL, preferably within 100Km radius of ISL.

Tarbela dam is a huge fishing spot. many locations r there
simli dam. auxillary dam area
rawal dam crush nala and cobra points
qibla bandi dam. permission is issue there
shahpur dam.

100 kms mai tou bhai pura photohar region aa jata hai sarkar.. or sirf fetah jang or chakwal side par hi apko 100+ dams mil jaein gaye..Masla as previously said is about getting permission,some thekedars allow fishing by issuing a parchi whereas some ppl don't. 2ndly, not all dams are fruitful all year around. Do u have any previous experience in this field? what type of fishing u do ?

A friend of mine wants to go fishing, he has currently bought fishing rod and stuff....
Can you specifically tell about some "fruitfull" locations these days near ISL?????

Sorry for the late reply. Well the season is almost over because of winters.As for fruitful places near ISB..I don't want to discourage u or anything like that but the truth is there aren't any left where u can just go and toss a line in water and get a hook in half an hour..:), U need to spend a healthy amount of time to get a bite.The best option for a new comer is to get in touch with some seasoned anglers and tag along..:), on the other hand now a days,mangla is producing good reports from places like chaksawari, harnao, kakara town, khanpur etc. BTW what bait u attend to use ?

yar sirin wali side and sites other than main power station is not vsited by cheker so u dont need permit.. atleast i have never cn a cheker there.......

secondly tarbela may hamesha chartay panimay game hoti hai (in summers) desi ke.. (mahseer)

In every district there is fishing department office.

Fish permits can be got there. One year fee is Rs. 300/-. The permit is applicable to whole province.

actually best fishing spots near islamabad are tarbella, indus, huro river, and at jehlum side mangla and jehlum river at head rasool are the top best places where you can get permisson by taking only the fishing license issued by government of pakistan (all over the pakistan) and get a bite in half an hour... but basically it totally depends upon the luck of the angler... and the fishing season starts from the 1 august and at his peak from 10 September to 15 November... also you can catch all type of fish in winter from deep waters (dams or pockets of rivers) specially mahsheer and mali... or may b trout from upper areas...

you can find dambra , golden , silver, kala raho, mahasheer, malli fishes ,, which is very common in pakistan,,, rasool berrage is best for duck hunting as well,,,
i saw many murghabis (drake) in kallar kahar lake ... which is very delicious,,, and you can hunt jungli khargosh in fateh jhung forest,,

Fishing is one sport you'll find very minimal information about in whole Pakistan (everybody has their own views and information which highly contradict every other angler, most of the time), anyways, if you're just a starter, you don't need to go to a Dam, try spending time at small fresh water Fords you'll find easily around ISB even within 25-30 km radius and you'll get a catch within half an hour for sure, not a big one though about 250 to 400grams. It'll fulfill your early apatite for fishing but will only enhance it in long run and you'll find a fire burning inside you to fish everyday if you're a true angler, and the urge is hard to resist.
To start with, try spending some time at Sanghjani, about 10mins drive from ISB towards peshawar on national highway (soon after you cross sanghjani tool plaza, a fresh water ford runs under a small bridge).
