Hi, the main objective of RS is to protect the paint as it is a paint sealant which prevents paint degradation from environmental elements. So shine is not the main purpose.
Since the sealant forms a very thin glossy layer on the paint, the original shine of the paint remains intact for years, so this is one of the benefit.
The other benefit is that due to the glossy sealant it is lot more easier to clean the car.
You would not believe but I can just wipe the car clean with a damp cloth even after driving in rain, which is unthinkable for a black car and one has to get it washed, shampooed and polished at the service station.
One of my friend had RS on his white car and was happy for the cleaning part, but after two years he said it was not shining. He contacted the RS guy and complained and they re-did the whole thing free of cost.
Actually some people were not satisfied with the guy who came from Lahore to do some cars RS here in Islamabad. I think he did not do a good job. Now the person doing it in Rawalpindi is doing a great job, as I have got feedback on threads on Pakwheels and from the experience of my friend.
