@veitnambro its is one of the toughest mean mechine ever produced by toyotai think u had some bad experience if proper suspension its quite comfy and with 2f u can smoke any other vehicle on road even 1kz turbo can not challenge stock 2fi had willys x also have cj5 and currently own mutt and fj40 trus me nothing like it the 2f in line 6 is a monster under the hood waiting to get outits fun all the way but as i alwas say keep it stock as much as u cansee my thread project fj40 u will see

The BJ42V was the last short wheelbase model in the 40-series. Shown in the photograph is the top of the line luxury LX grade model, which not only had a softer ride with softer springs, and improvements in emissions with the 3B-type diesel engine. It also came with a 5-speed M/T and power steering as standard equipment, which made it easier to travel long distances.

we owned this jeep not this obviousy but one like that from 1998 to 2004 when i will be home i will try to find out some old pics.

Also if you have ever placed a hard top on a Fj-40 please let me know how it went and what alterations were needed.

Dear all.. I have just got hold of two repair manuals for the FJ 40 Series. One is the famous Haynes Manual and the other is Max Ellery's. Both are quite comprehensive. If any 40 series enthusiast wants a photo copy I will be glad to share.

Dear TLCFJ40, I'm planning on getting an 40 with a 1kz intercooler turbo. Please teach me how I can check if all the 4x4 ranges of gears are working. Get many mails asking me how much it costs to rebuild one these landcruisers, so thought why not give u all a break up for your future project.
1- Doner Jeep.
a. Auctioned jeep from open market which is not really in working condition with a 3-f petrol engine.( Rs 2 lac to 2.5 lac.)(registration = 50 grand)
b. A running Landcruiser with a diesel engine, registered in a average condition will cost you from 3.5 to 5 lacs.(depending on the models).
2- Overhaulin of engine petrol or diesel approx (60000).
3- Denting depending on the condition of its body (50000).
4- Paint (2k) (25000)
5- Prado dash with Ac vents full (25000)
6- AC/Heater (15000)
7- Seats surf (5000)
8- Back Seat Custon made (2500).
9- Sound system (10,000)
10-Bull bars/side bars/front grill (20,000)
11-Leather Interiors seat covers door coverings(15,000)
12-Alloys Rims second hand (15,000)
13-285 M/T tyres (60,000)
14-Tubes/axles front n back (60,000)
15-Disc breaks rear or front (10,000)
16-Electric works all kabli wiring (10000).
17-Around 10 grand for a soft top.
That is all i can think of at the moment. Some other stuff :
floor matts- carpets- gear box-4x4 special- radiator-battery
and the list goes on on and on.
