FJ Cruiser from USA to Pakistan

Hello all … Has anybody shipped cars from USA to Pakistan before? I have a 2007 Toyota FJ Cruiser here in USA for almost 14 years now and it is one of a kind unique vehicle in voodoo blue. It has 80,000 MILES on it and it is mint. It would be cool to drive it in Pakistan. My plan is to move to Pakistan in the next 4 to 5 years as my kids get into college as I just love it back there. My homework starts now, however.
I will need to switch the steering wheel over to the other side. It is garage queen and it stays parked. I use other cars to drive. My plan was to save it and take it to Pakistan in mint condition. I have spent years accessorizing it with factory options from around the world that weren't even available here in USA. (note: front plate is just ornamental as Tennessee law does not require a front plate).

Basically do they allow cars this old?
Is there duty?
Do I have to have connections at the Karachi port?
Steering change would be a challenge? I don't want my car completely butchered!

I also have an old RAV4 that I really love that I might bring also. 1998 with 320k miles. Did not see any of these in Pakistan last month when I was there.

Also are there Toyota Sequoias in Pakistan? Can I get on there? I saw Tundras but not Sequoias. I am ok with with a Land Cruiser as a family car but just curious. I have one here and it may be too much to take it over there with all of the electronics a steering change may not be possible.

I am reading "All used vehicles can be imported". With money (tax/duty) or whatever the charges are anything is possible. I can't believe they wont allow my cars in at all. Most of the conversations in the link are very old. With Imran now president, he is not letting anything out of the country but will encourage assets/money coming back into the country.

am sorry but the policy is unchanged only 5 year old SUV & 3 year old cars can be imported into Pakistan.

Interesting to see the rear of the FJ is registered in Tennessee, while the left hand drive front is registered in Australia.

yes that i noticed too, he may have imported from US to AUS now desire to ship it to PK.

just like so many HiAce we still see in PK with UAE export blue plates above the local plates

Front plate is not mandatory in Tennessee so I just put a dummy Outback plate up there cuz I have been in the outback and loved it.

So I can not bring a CLASSIC car into Pakistan from anywhere in the world ever !?! Only new cars are allowed? Wow!!
If I find a 1932 Doosenburg.. forget bringing it in? Doesn't make sense at all to me.

You cannot import it. Simple is that. This law is there from a long long time plus it would be an hassle to convert it from left to right side.
Sequoia isn't available in Pakistan, but toyota prado and toyota fortuner are equivalent options. Kia grand carnival also a great car, but that's an MPV. In case of compact SUV you can go for KIA sportage.

Instead of KIA Sportage I would rather get the new TOYOTA RAV4 which I can import from England and it is a much better vehicle. I am not sure why it didn't make it to Pakistan. I will be making some calls in Pakistan to people I know. I got time. So much lawlessness (no offence) and all strict laws suddenly who up on a 14 year old vehicle. Even if I have to take my car apart and ship it over piece by piece I would.
Plan B would be of course find one in Pakistan and get it painted in the color I want and build it factory like I have it here. Hopefully I can find a FJ there in 5 years. What a waste.

Thank you for the explanation that makes perfect sense. Pity you will not be able to import such a fine vehicle into Pakistan..

there was an SRO issued by the Shareef Govt 75 days before the caretaker setup sworn in. according to that SRO any pre- 1970 car can be imported irrespective of value, against blanket payment of US$5000 all inclusive of duty taxes etc etc, Charges for registration of such vehicles were to be ascertain by respective provincial governments

ironically few of us fall trap .. a 1967 Ford Mustang from US & a 1969 Ford Capri from UK was shipped. landed and now at customs yard. SRO was never activated over customs portal to allow clearance., neither it has been cancelled or revoked by the Govt.

seriously speaking 1 classic 1959 Mercedes Ponton class allegedly belong to sitting governer of sindh is also in the same yard as both Ford

OMG!!!!
The more I hear, the more I get a headache. LOL !
It looks like I will have to buy a used old FJ40, 55, 62 or 80 (Land Cruiser) that nobody would have and restore it and drive it. Driving a vehicle that everybody is driving is too boring for me. Although it has to be a Toyota 4x4.
Again, the move back to Pakistan is in about 5 years but who cares if I haven't even researched what kind of jobs are available there, ironing out my automobile passion part out FIRST was more important. LMAO!
I really appreciate all your help guys. I am looking at some very beautiful FJ80s for sale but too bad I must wait!!! Hope they are still available in a few years. Did see 3 FJ Cruisers in Lahore but they were trashed up. A FJ40 might be easier to get though. In any case, I see myself building a vehicle from scratch to brand new factory specs, every single nut and bolt once I am there.
