Stopped work on FJ40 due engine found in bad condition, needs overhaul so decided to buy another 2F from the market in a running condition.....What the Guru's suggest???????

A question for 4x4 Guru's

Should I buy 2F or should I switch to any Diesel engine???

Go for any diesel or patrol but pls don't plant 2F again.

First of all I am not a Guru....Number two: If you want to stick with the 2F; strip it and overhaul it form scratch. Do not trust in a running 2F from a Kabaria. Change the carburetor to a 1FZ carburetor which you should be able to find(with some difficulty). Change the Coil to eletronic.

Number three: Go diesel. You will find numerous options. Safe option is a B series. Though 1KZ is also easy to hook these days. With diesels your per kilometer cost will come down in comparison to 2F.

Tnx hsumbal1 for your valuable suggestions.......You becomes a Guru once you re-assembles or change a scrap into a useable/valuable thing by visiting Garages/scrap dealers and lose a lot of money...lol

I think Diesel is the best solution now after 2F pack up....... I will search for B series.....BTW my other FJ40 engine came out in a perfect condition so I will keep the other engine stock....

The rig is snatched by my friend so now working for him....lol

2F engine was overhauled by striping it completely as per the instructions of the new owner and it is built perfectly.....
