Flights to Skardu

If the flight to Skardu is canceled due to bad weather then what is the best and the fastest way to reach there. Any ideas?

Thanks for your funny comments though my question was a serious one.
I can imagine that road would be the only way but via road what may be the fastest transport. If bus then which ones the best, if rent a car then what sort of expense I'm looking at etc.

Dont have a car in Pak as am coming from elsewhere, just to clarify.

You can go by NATCO bus service. their office is near METRO in I-11.
Buses and coasters go regularly.

actually i went to NATCO to get my seats reserved and no seat were found till 27th...

rest u can use masherbrum tours and some other services which are available at pir wadahi bus station..

you can book ur vehicle for the trip along with driver... though it will cost much higher ...

Booked our flight but need a backup if the flight is delayed/cancelled. We are just two people myself and my son who is 13.
BTW how much a private vehicle would cost up till Jaglot. Or if it is a possibility to get a 4x4 from Pindi that we could keep for our 10-12 days trip. If so how much that may cost per day?

if u have someone in airforce, try to liaison and get a seat on C130 which leaves chaklala for skardu, every other day and varied timings.
if that is not an option, i'll tell u the best bus services, in order of priority..
1. NATCO-ok coaches and ok dvrs, overall average experience.
2.Mashabrum tours...few good buses and some tremendously daring drivers...service is so so
3.silk route...generally good buses and very fast reckless drivers
4.himalaya tours...smaller toyota coasters, and overall good experience.
5.Walji tour operators....very costly but the best experience

journey to jaglot will take almost 18 hours on prevailing road conditions.

where the Great Baltoro Glacier starts...right next to the Gasherbrum 4. to be exact, the saddle lies between Baltoro Kangri and Sia Kangri peaks.

What are the private transport options available from Islamabad-Skardu for five people? And also share the rates if you could.

hiring transport frm islamabad would cost u all a fortune..
goto gilgit or skardu by air/ public transport and hire a local vehicle over there

Well sir, there is no fastest way as such.

Your best bet is to drive your own 4x4 (rented or borrowed), going via Islamabd-Naran-Babusar-Raikot-Jaglot-Skardu route. (appx travel times: Isb-Naran 7hrs, Naran-Chilas 7 hrs and Chilas-Skardu 7 hrs. 21hrs total).

Or

Take a bus from Pindi for an appx 26 hr journey to Skardu via KKH.

And

if you must rent a vehicle (very costly option) make sure it's a 4x4 for this journey.

If any of the friends at this club with a 4x4 is willing to do the same route as ours, I would be glad to join in and would be willing to pitch-in/discuss with fuel etc. expenses. Or may be if there is a group of 4x4s planing to visit Deosai Plains and the area around in the second week of July, we could talk of a plan together.
