Hello Bk,
Yes your guess was correct.
The ride quality on stock shocks and springs provided in these Pak assembled Defenders is very hard. In fact too hard for any kind of daily use.
I upgraded to Old Man Emu Springs and Shocks that gave me a much softer ride quality and much better handling.
However of late I have been thinking of participating in a rally or two, and for that purpose the EMU shocks were bit too soft and thus I needed secondry shocks not just to make the ride bit sturdy but also as second line of defence incase in harsh rally condition a shock breaksdown.
To add the secondry shocks, I had to create space between the tire and the chasis/ body on the front as the tires were touching the shocks when turning.
And thus I had to get spacers made to move the tires out just a bit. This increased the over all foot print and also gave reduced center of gravity, which again has made a very positive impact on the over handling and ride quality of the landy.
Join me for a ride if ever you are in Karachi.
By way of this post I am hoping to lure Storm back on Pakwheels.
Salaams
