Raikkonen in fighting mood at Silverstone
SILVERSTONE, England (AFP) - Ferrari's Kimi Raikkonen is determined to keep his driver's world title bid on track at Sunday's British Grand Prix after a confidence-boosting victory at Magny-Cours last weekend.
The Finn ended championship leader Lewis Hamilton's two-race winning streak in France, beating Ferrari teammate Felipe Massa into second.
Raikkonen feels that Ferrari could be even faster at Silverstone but he stopped short of claiming that the Italian team now holds a pace advantage over constructor's championship leaders McLaren.
"We had a very good test here two weeks ago," the Finn told reporters at the Northamptonshire circuit.
"If we manage to bring all the latest developments on the track, then I think that Ferrari will be even more competitive than in Magny-Cours."
"I've been asked if we now have an advantage - I really can't tell. The situation changes from track to track: we were behind at Indy and ahead at Magny-Cours. It's just a waste of time to think about who will be favoured at Silverstone."
Despite being 22 points behind Hamilton, Raikkonen maintains that the title race is far from over.
"We don't have much to lose and we still have many races to go. We only need the one bad race for the other guys and things can turn around completely so we just keep pushing but we had a little of bit of help from the last race," he said.
Massa was in a similarly buoyant mood.
"We had a very good race in Magny-Cours, the car was really competitive," he said.
"I'm really looking forward to having a good weekend here and having the same car we had in Magny-Cours. Last week was very, very good and I am really looking forward to fighting for victory."
