Pre-season impressions
From Ferrari to Super Aguri
As is always the case, pre-season testing can never be taken at face value. Teams rarely work on identical programmes during group tests, therefore making direct comparisons a very risky exercise indeed. Picking out certain trends is possible however, although only race conditions will reveal the true nature of each team's early-season situation as the 2008 Formula One Championship looms nearer.
It has become obvious that Ferrari and McLaren will again be two close front-runners, with the red team seemingly holding a slight advantage at present - if not necessarily on the time sheets. The Italian Scuderia can count on the performances of two veterans with Kimi Raikkonen and Felipe Massa, the latter now entering his third season as an official Ferrari racer. Such a combination of drivers and stability could deliver the edge needed to overtake McLaren on the track.
