The one thing, The Only Thing, i ever liked and picked from planet F1 is the signature of this guy, something along the lines, I like driver X, so whatever he does is sheer genius, i hate driver Y, so what ever he achieves is pure luck.
I think that's a really nice one, and one that we should use here maybe or try not to use and act that way:D
Firstly, Webber had his accident. I've watched it a few times and now looked at the video posted by genius83. The first thing that i noticed is-that unlike what Steve is saying, Webber did not have only one tire and brake. The impact with Nico is around 06 seconds in the video. Before that when he hit the wall, he probably damaged his front left suspension but like any racing driver he was going to give himself a chance to get back in the race, his world title was riding on it, and at that time, first impact, as hard as it may have been, could not have given him a clear idea of the extent of damage to his car. So yes, he definitely rolled back on the track but then again any driver would do so. The fact that it was wet did not help the situation either and it would have been hard for him to stop the car even in the dry.
So, it's a bit of both. Nico Rosberg would do the same in that situation as would any other driver. It's a stupid to say why didn't he stop his car from rolling back on the track.
Alonso got away with it because he was close to Webber, and intitally if you look carefully, Alonso's first move is to go to the outside, towards the wall, then he goes to his left and carries on. Rosberg was caught out and there is no way he could have changed directions at that time. Watch the video again. His only chance was the one he attempted, to go on the grass in an effort to avoid hitting Webber. Why would he spin out if he had managed to avoid Webber? Even if he had spun, at least he gave himself a chance, again almost all driver would do that.
What Paula said about Webber wanting to maybe park his car off the racing line. Well, the racing line around the corner is what Alonso took and parking it off racing line would be something along the lines of what Rosberg suggested, close to the wall. Either way a safety car period was likely. That's just the beauty of Tilke. Not only does he design boring monotonous tracks, he also has a special gift to design one near a coast with hopeless drainage and designs something close to Monaco in terms of how close the walls are without having any cranes to lift the cars:-# He is one person, i would be very happy to see dead and rather soon.
As to what you said my dear friend
honestly i think MAS is diplaying an amazingly magnanimous face despite being obviously labeled as #2 driver...
One, when you have finished 30 seconds behind your team mate in identical cars, that too with a few safety car periods then all you can do is have a smile on your face because you know you've had your a$$ kicked. 30 seconds is eternity in F1 in normal circumstances, never mind with two, three safety car periods.
Two, he was a #2 always. He became the team leader by default for a season and a half and that doesn't change the fact that Massa is not a team leader of a front line F1 team.
Slightly good news, I was watching the WRC rerun and team principal of Ford said, they would be very interested in Raikkonen, but he( Raikkonen ) will have to make himself cost effective:D What ever that means, whether it means not crashing so much or asking less money.
His current boss said, Raikkonen would need three years in Rallying to get to grips with it and it would be very sad to see him leave at the end of the year and hoped he won't stop after one year.
Genius83 my friend, about the link you gave, if drivers are judged by what they say and NOT what they do, then F1 would be full of drivers like Raikkonen, who didn't talk much. Come to think off it, he didn't do much either in F1:-# But on a serious note, that is nothing to judge a driver's performance on. Drivers say worse things and people are losing sight of something slightly more important, Rosberg is showing Schumacher the way, period. It's hard for some to digest but those are cold facts. Enough of Schumacher trying to adjust, learning the car, tires, working on next year`s car. Those are all excuses my friend. Did Ferrari design the car for Alonso this year, is the Mercedes designed around Rosberg, Renault has been designed for Kubica? Mclaren was designed for Button? No. People should admit that the guy has done a better job than Schumacher. These tires are new to Rosberg too, not like he was given some special treatment and allowed to develop tires by a certain company to suit his style. You know who I am talking about:-#
Regarding your driver, come on Steve, we all know the secret:D If he went into a race that was wet, delayed so much, and likely to get dark, and he wore a medium visor, don't you think that's idiotic? Then again this is the same driver who pitted in 2nd gear in Singapore:-#
Brundle said something else too at the time when Vettel was talking about it being too dark. Vettel kept setting fastest lap after fastest lap and Brundle said, he is going too fast, he keeps arriving at that corner quicker than before and maybe thats one of the reasons why he can't see it:P The secret of medium visor was not known at that stage.
