Turns out Murussia were testing a Sauber style rear end and exhaust. Yet more reason to wonder why she was chosen for something like that.
She was doing clutch testing? What's there to test in a clutch:S Hardly the most used part of a GP car and it's a very very driver specific thing. The amount of bite a driver wants from it, the amount of slip one likes in the clutch which can in a poor man's way work as a form of launch control etc. Race drivers do that during friday and saturday.
I have doubts over that story especially that the crash took place at 30-40 MPH. Who tests the clutch at that speed and for what? Unless the throttle got stuck open and she went into the truck, even in that case she should have used something called ' brake '. It looks like a small error and the longer Murussia keep quiet about it the more suspicious it looks because by now they will have a very good idea what happened. Maybe they don't want to make it worse by coming out and saying it was the same person's fault who lost her eye and is in critical condition.
Anyway, I hope F1 doesn't go crazy like Indycar and insists on having a woman driver just so that it makes for bigger headlines.
m_waqas [INDENT] Vettel insists Valencia safety car was not necessary, but denies saying it was deliberately calculated - F1 news - AUTOSPORT.com
any comment?? :S
Can understand looking at it from his point of view, frustration. Looking at the track at that time and the speed at which one of the Toro Rosso driver was going to the pits with a rear puncture, spraying chunks of pirelli all over the track and carbon fiber parts of the car all over the track. So much so that the car caught fire when it entered the pitlane.
On a street circuit there is no choice but to throw out the safety car. Can't risk marshals on a street circuit to clear the track.
It's not just him, it's Marko as well. He is the one who started it and Vettel jumped on the bandwagon.
Bottom line, things are not going to plan, they haven't since the start of the season, frustration at losing a GP they were dominating for once, but there was no choice but to deploy the safety car. In the past we have seen it being sent out for a lot less.
