Here we are starting the new F1 season discussion, as things have changed last year and we have a new beginning with many drivers changing teams and others leaving the grid. While there are a few new faces joining the grid too. So, here is an overview of what the situation is this season with respect to the teams, starting in descending order with respect to constructor standings of previous season:
Sauber: (WCC Pos 10, pts 4)
Sauber had a very bad season in 2024 as they score points in a single race, and only one driver score those points while the other driver remain pointless. Both their previous season drivers are not part of their 2025 campaign as Nico Hulkenberg is changing teams from HAAS to Sauber and joined by the debutant F2 driver Gabriel Bortoletto.
Williams: (WCC Pos 9, pts 19)
Williams had a mix season last year as they have scored points in multiple races but they had many race ending crashes. Because of those crashes they even have to change their driver accusing him of those crashes but by the end of season another streak of multiple crashes leave them in a bit of bother. As a result their chance of finishing the season on higher position in the standings ended. For 2025 season, they have signed Carlos Sainz who will race alongside their current driver Alex Albon.
Visa CashApp RB: (WCC Pos 8, pts 46)
VCARB or Visa CashApp RB is the second RedBull team and most probably may not have the same name by the time season start but for now we are using this name as they have used it to compete last season and finish the season in eighth after narrowly missing the chance to achieve higher position in the last races. They also have to change their driver lineup in the last third of the season and surprisingly have to start the new season with a different driver lineup with Yuki Tsunoda their experience driver will be joined by the debutant Isaack Hadjar.
Haas: (WCC Pos 7, pts 58)
Haas is the second team with a completely new driving lineup as Esteban Ocon is joining them after leaving Alpine and alongside him is Oliver Bearman the Ferrari Academy driver who has raced 3 times last season as a substitute driver after the main driver were unable to make the start. Haas had a good season as they have scored points consistently throughout the season.
Alpine: (WCC Pos 6, pts 65)
Alpine had the most ridiculous season as they have finished mostly outside of points and remains in the lower standings throughout the season until the last 4 races where a double podium finish in 1 race made them jump from 9th to 6th in the standings. During the season the announcement made by Renault the parent company that they are leabing the F1 grid as engine supplier from 2026 season when the new engine regulations come into play leave the team in a bother. As if it was not enough the team suffer intra team altercations to the point that they have to change the driver line up before the season finale. Their driver lineup for the new season is Pierre Gasly joined by Jack Doohan who made his debut in the season finale for them.
Aston Martin: (WCC Pos 5, pts 94)
Aston Martin is the first team with no change in their driver lineup as Fernando Alonso will be racing alongside Lance Stroll, they have finished in the points at the early part of last season but as their updates failed to deliver the result they expected they finish the season with most races out of points. The only good news for them was they manage to hire Adrian Newey from RedBull Racing. Whether this hiring will result in some change of luck for them is something that we have to wait and see.
Mercedes: (WCC Pos 4, pts 468)
Mercedes have lost their 7 time WDC driver Lewis Hamilton to Ferrari and this announcement was made even before the previous season begin. They have a good season and score podiums and wins for both of their drivers especially for Hamilton who have won his first race after more then 2 years. For the new season they have George Russell alongside the debutant Andrea Kimi Antonelli.
RedBull: (WCC Pos 3, pts 589)
RedBull have won the WDC title but lost the Constructor title and as a result made a change in their driver lineup as Liam Lawson will race for them alongside Max Verstappen the current WDC. RedBull had a bad season off the track as many scandals surrounded them in the early part of last season which according to their team principal could have distracted the team too. But the difference in driver performance was more then just the result of those scandals as off the top 4 teams in the constructor championship they are only one have won races while the other driver manage to reach podium rarely.
Ferrari: (WCC Pos 2, pts 652)
Ferrari miss the chance to win the Constructor title after a close fight with the WCC McLaren, hut they manage to hire Lewis Hamilton for atleast 2 seasons. They had a strong season as their both drivers win races and finish on podiums consistently and hope to continue it in the new season. Their driving lineup is Lewis Hamilton will race alongside Charles Leclerc.
McLaren: (WCC Pos 1, pts 666)
McLaren is the second team with no driver changes as they hope this time they could fight for the WDC too alongside defending their WCC. They have a good season last year with both drivers winning races and one of them even end up in a position to compete for the WDC until a mistake in the last races made it impossible. They also have to overcome their management blunders that also played part in losing the WDC. Their driver lineup is Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri for the 2025 season
