Fortuner 13 vs Prado 03

I've heard that Prado has same suspension system as HILUX FORTUNER ETC & at the same time I've heard praises of Prado while people say that Fortuner is a bit bumpy jumpy & boring !!
both SUV are 2.7 & have the same price tag in the market with difference in features & age !!
My question is which one while you choose ??

Choose prado and if possible get a TZ 3.0 diesel one. It will give better fuel average and pick as compared to 2.7. Moreover, the suspension of prado is much better than even the latest fortuner and Prado is easy to handle at high speeds. After all , fortuner is built on Hilux chasis.
Fortuner is locally assembled mostly and Prado is imported so there is a lot of difference in their drive quality and reliability.
Moreover , Prado has a better market and its wise to go for it

fortuner is turtle fuel guzzler. a highly disappointing vehicle for explorers and touring guys be it a 2800 or 3000, highly uncomfortable. It is just a damn truck with canopy. very terrible uncomfortable suspension for long haulers

If you are into touring exploring country, select a 7 seater vehicle with engine 3000 or above
Land Cruiser, Prado & Range Rover. trucks are only for shashka, useless when going up north or exploring south west.

My home town is a Chaos if I would buy an SUV it better be a capable offroader & SUV themselves have a better road presence but I would choose one with comfortable Ride & ready for off-road at any time !!

I used a Toyota Prado Model 2000, 7 seater vehicle,1KZ Turbo stock engine under hood. 485000 kms odo, Oil change interval is 5000 kms. It is with family since it landed in Pakistan in 2003 with 28000 kms over odo.

It is a family touring vehicle for us, since 19+ years it is managed by trusted dedicated driver.

For me It was an emergency run from Karachi to Multan with stop to top up tank and we reached multan in 10 hours. as of today that SUV is upnorth in Gilgit. Toyota Pink Coolant is flushed to Toyota Blue Anti Freeze every summer & winters.

It is the 2nd trusted vehicle for me. mechanically & physically 100% fit.,

People do choose Revo/Vigo over any SUV as it cost less a SUV but it's uncomfortable
Position of rear seat is a bit uncomfortable & it's a loader if it's empty it would be uncomfortable!!

Almost any decent vehicle would be my getaway from Karachi
I would prefer to visit my village & at this time it's not possible to visit without an 4x4 vehicle because of the moonsoon !!

3.0 Litre is not rare. It is one of the most demanded vehicle in this category. Secondly, 1KD is the engine which is 3000cc and comes in both TZ and TX variants. TZ is the upper variant with more features.
Believe me or not but Prado is worth it when you compare it to any vehicle in its league especially against fortuner.
It is to keep in mind that locally assembled vehicles are less reliable and after 5 years of use you may experience some rattling sounds in them like it can be seen in locally assembled vigos whereas in imported vehicles you won’t face any such thing which is a proof of their superior quality.
Just don’t go for 2.7 version in Prado as it is fuel guzzler and underpowered at the same time. If you don’t want to go for diesel and can afford the fuel then go for 3.4 litre version of prado but it will give you the same fuel average as of 2.7 . So diesel is better in terms of power and fuel average

In karachi you need to buy an Suv and a motor boat as well. Which one will be used depends upon the intensity of rain.

3400cc prado TZ petrol any day. No 2700 cc. 1kd (prior to 2010) are more prone to injector failure than post 2010 I kd engines. In case you want fortuner, then Sigma (1Gd) all the way but dont expect comfort out of it. As stated above by @capsat, it's a truck with a canopy.

Well if you get diesel from a reputed pump like coco ones then no problem comes in 1kd engines and they last long. And what I have experienced is that 1Gd is more prone to failure than a 1kd engine as 1kd is more prone to failure than a 1kz.

Prado 03 all the way. No. Match to fortuner in any aspect.
Prado is way more comfortable and rough and tough.
