Fortuner Legender 2022 or Old Prado

Hi,

Right now I'm using Changan Oshan X7 7 seater and I'm thinking of an upgrade.
My available options are:

Fortuner Sigma 2020
Fortuner Legender 2.7 2022
Prado TX 2.7 2015
Prado TXL 2.7 2012
Prado 4.0 2010

All of them are under 1.7 crore right now in Karachi.

My priorities are:
- Comfortable ride
- Super reliable (don't want to do anything other than maintaining from dealership)
- Okayish average

Regarding power, since I'm coming from Oshan, I know I can't expect 0-100 in 8 seconds so I can compromise on the engine power.

Would appreciate y'all suggestions.

Comfort and Fortuner don't belong in the same sentence so if you're looking for a comfortable ride (seeing that you've placed it at the top of your wish list), you'd better look at the other options.

+1 on avoiding fortuner if you are looking for comfort. The 2.7 Prados are plenty quick so there is no need to go for the 4.0 but if you do a lot of highway driving I may recommend it over the other ones (my 2011 2.7 used to feel a bit noisy and sluggish on high speeds).

So between the TXL and TX I would say you should look whether you really want the options or a newer car.

What do you think about the reliability and availability of the parts? Its 2025 and I will be purchasing a 13 years old car so..

This model has been such a success that it practically went unchanged for 13 years, and after having owned one I can vouch for all the positives this platform has. When I lived in the UAE it was very common for people to drive these with upwards of 300k km and they still felt brand new (difficult to compare to pakistani roads though).

Reliability should not be something you will have to worry with this car, as its components are rather simple (especially the drive train). However, you should make sure you truly have a clean car that you buy, that way you can forget the age of the car. They were produced upto 2022! They really don't build them like this anymore, and these Prados will be the cars I will think back to when people discussed peak Japanese reliability. If things do go wrong, parts are available locally and can be imported easily too (if there is mistrust in the locally available options).

Prado all the way , and get the highest model in your budget aka 2015 , for reliability these cars are meant to last granted its maintained on time so buy something with maintenance history , I have a 2016 TX that I imported myself back in 2022 and its a charm to drive not in the same league as a Fortuner.

Oils and filters are easily available but I buy from Authorized 1s of Toyota , I put 5w-30 orignal toyota japan oil

I know the 4.0 is the oldest of the bunch here but that's the only platform and engine combo that will hit 100 sub 9 seconds. So yeah, it's right there on power. My 05 safari drives better than a fortuner. It's a brick sitting on 4 wooden wheels. The 150's are miles ahead in comfort than a fortuner

Go for Prado TX 2.7 2015 and get it tuned from Unichip Pakistan for some serious amount of power gains, they also ofder grip to grip installation of Piggyback ECU additional charges will be made.
