Fortuner Legender vs GR: Which Is More Comfortable for Daily Driving?

Salam PakWheeler,

I’m looking to upgrade my current ride and can’t decide between two Fortuner variants:
- Fortuner Legender
- Fortuner GR (Gazoo Racing)

My main concern is ride comfort - I do a lot of city driving mixed with occasional long-distance trips on slightly rough roads. Things I care about most:
- Seat cushioning and support on long drives
- Suspension compliance over potholes and speed-breakers
- Cabin quietness (engine/road noise)
- Ease of entry/exit and overall ergonomics

A few more details:
- Daily commute of 40–60 km (urban & highway mix)
- Prefer to keep the stock suspension and setup

Questions for those who’ve driven both variants (10,000 km+):
1. How do they handle broken city roads with passengers onboard?
2. Which delivers the smoother ride on extended trips?
3. Is the GR’s sport-tuned suspension noticeably harsher for everyday use?
4. Which offers better rear-seat comfort for kids and elderly family members on long trips?

I’d appreciate feedback from owners. Thanks in advance for your suggestions!

Both of them are different as red and green apples. Most of the users complain that seat cushioning and support is not great for long journeys.

Prado suits you more brother
If comfort is the main the prado it is or if you could settle for a sante fe.
Fortuner/revo and comfort are 2 very different things

Long trip on Fortuner will break your back no matter what . during city driving you'll feel every small bump in the road throughout your body., if you have budget for a new GR i'd highly suggest getting a 2016 2017 clean and well maintained prado its a completely different ballgame.

I only suggest fortuner for anyone having max budget of 15 million and who wants a reliable rugged 4x4, 20 million and above fortuner makes no sense at all to me at least

Mr. Munj's claims about GR's Monotube shocks having some special air suspension ride qualities are nothing but hilarious.

Both are uncomfortable.
Its an unbreakbale offroader built for rugged duties. Its not built for comfort.

Fortuner's cushioning is a lot less than Prado, find a clean Prado.

I can say from personal experience that the Fortuner GR is not very comfortable. I bought a brand new 2024 GR and was very happy with it for the first month. It gave me around 12–13 km/l in Lahore city and had amazing pickup!

Eventually, I have sold my GR it because it simply wasn’t comfortable, and despite its large exterior appearance, the cabin felt quite compact. It’s not as spacious inside as you’d expect. In fact, the first time I sat in it, my exact words were: “It’s so compact—smaller than my Kia Sportage.” Yes, it’s longer, but definitely not wider.

That said, I still liked the engine power. Being a diesel, it delivered solid performance. Now, I’m back in the market, looking for a 2020 Prado TZG diesel.

I was suspicious about that, because here on YouTube none of the showrooms owners shows or explains if it’s the same or different engine !
The only video that got me suspicious of it was the recent on posted by Haffiz Sajaad on Facebook , they have one prado TZG that I am interested in. But if it needs those Def chemical ! I think I will go with petrol engine unfortunately!

It is same engine. But since it's JDM model, emissions over there are strict requiring cleaner exhaust output which is achieved by DPF fluid to make it less harmful for the environment. Think it as catalytic converter but requires fluid to keep its filter lubricated; failure to do will land you in bigger problems resulting in fire hazard and chocking of exhaust affecting performance of vehicle.

Hence you don't see diesel models of Prado over here despite only being 100cc difference over its petrol counterpart.

Some folks at States do delete their DPF stuff of GM trucks which is not that hard but not all of them do since it's very illegal and one cannot pass annual emission inspections. I have yet to see whether someone has done the same on their Toyotas.

Well then I think I am left with just petrol version, I’ll go with petrol engine 2020 TXL.
How do I verify the auction sheet ; other than pakwheek! Just to make sure I am getting non accidental pardo.

There's popular site named carvx.jp from there you can get detailed reports.

Other than PakWheels , dealers who import jdm cars can also help , My 2016 Prado TX (which i bought as a fresh import) had 4 auction sheets total when I got it verified through a JDM car importer ,it got bought and sold at different auction houses within a couple hundred km, I guess for better rating etc Pakwheels just picked up the first auction sheet if I remember correctly.
I wanted to verify since my car had a bodykit and pakwheels auctionsheet showed car without bodykit , so thats why i had it checked and the 2nd auctionsheet showed the car with the same modelista bodykit , so someone bought it from auction in japan got the bodykit drove like 100 km and resold at another auctionhouse with better rating

I just don’t want to visit any repair shops. I know Toyotas last decades! Which is why I have planned to buy 5 year old prado! I like the 2019zx but they are 4+ least.

empty bed trucks and comfort can not be equated in single sentence.
empty bed trucks are meant for cargo loading & transportation of manpower in double cab.

Foturner of different variants is Semi Suv. a good choice for long off road adventure without too much of beating to human body.
