I shall request you and all to please spare what little Volkswagen Beetles (aka Foxy) are left in the country.

 Original VWs have a class of their own which only enthusiasts can understand. Modification of the original concept especially something as major as shoving a different engine up its behind only results in a short lived mutant.

 If Civic engines fancy you, then complete Civics would more. Would it not be better if you just saved up and bought a Civic?

 For the record and answering your original query, VW Beetles had 1100cc (very early models only which are not seen commonly in PK), 1200cc, 1300cc, 1500cc and 1600cc engines.

Late seventies VWs came with Fuel Injection from factory.

 I believe (though I do not know the details in and out), these were mechanical injection and not as advanced as the modern EFI systems.

 I know of only one VW having such and engine in running condition but unfortunately have not met the owner to have a chat with him.

 An Injected engine was imported into the country by someone a few years ago but the person who bought it converted it to Carburetor as he was unable to arrange the correct setup required to run it.

I have seen the OE injection aka enspritzen setup of the 1303 beetle, its the same as any old Bosch K-jetronic injection, it really wakes the engine up.

I dont understand why people never actually give a damn to gear ratios - e.g. installing a torqueless gutless at low rpm honda or toyota engine into a tall gear beetle will result in tears - The rpm will rise in glacial time for the engine to make any usable power, unlike the original boxer mill which is all about torque.
