Hello Dear,
I have been looking for a clean ride for last two weeks and now i have finalized a deal.

It is 2011 manufactured and registered Suzuki Cultus (Lahore Registered).

Seller is a second owner of the car but the car is still on first owner's name. Means car only has one owner in excise records.

I want to get the car transferred on my name as soon as i buy the car. so i have few questions

1. Which documents i need to get from second owner to get the ownership transferred on my name??

2. Do i need the second owner personally to go with me to excise ???

3. Do i need any sort of help/cooperation from first owner as second owner has not transferred car on his name??

This is my first car purchase so pardon my ignorance.

Any sort of help will be really appreciated.

In case of transfer of ownership you need following things

1. Original registration book
2. Receipt of life time tokens paid
3. Original excise file consisting of suzuki invoices and form f
   4 . Id card copy of current owner as per registration book ... if its first owner then you need id card copy of first owner ..
4. You have to visit excise office to get a transfer deed which costs 300 rupees and then get it signed by the first owner ... otherwise pay rs500 to any excise agent and he will get it transferred it on your name with rishwat

Thank you for this! @cerwinvega I'm a non-technical person looking to buy a family car.

I was about to purchase an automatic corolla from the dealership in a couple of days.
Initially i was going to get the 1.6 but I was recommended the 1.3 by the sales staff! as the only difference between the two were the Alloy Rims and the Navigation system.

The sales person recommended that i should rather get the 1.3 as it'll be cheaper in registration/withholding tax and will give better mileage. And i could always add on the rims and navigation and even then it'll be 100,000/- cheaper.

Is this a good idea?

Also I recently learnt that Toyota was going to discontinue the 1.3 corolla once the Belta is launched this year. Should that influence my decision?

Any help from any members would be highly appreciated.

In my opinion only altis with 7 forward cvti technology is recommended because it is a beautiful comination of power and fuel economy ... rest 1.3 is very underpower and 1.6 is average ... keep in mind that 1.3 will give the worst fuel milage as compared to 1.6 and 1.8 .... now you have to check cost benefit analysis bet 1.3 and 1.6 ... if i will be getting a dual vvti 1.6 engine with navigation and alloyrims with just addition of 1 lac rupees then i will go for 1.6

CerwinVega can you i m in isb n i want to transfer car lhr reg which is double transfer case n no file no becoze first owner, what ll b the fair charges through agent (last time i stuck in double transfer for whole month n a agent charge 14K for this ), and one more thing if car have only book no file becoz 1st owner(no stamp return file with owner), can i transfer it again from rwp, without file or i have to send it to lhr, n is there any extra charges to get file, pls detail answer.

Gave token of it today. Between the mentioned price. How do u compare 2000 vitz with this 09 santro ? Vitz 3 pieve paint is also 675. To 7

I would preferably buy a vitz because i hate local crap specially in manual transmission.... well my logic is in old car more than 4 years only mainetenance and pampered attitude of owner counts ... risk is almost the same for if you are looking for more than 5 years old cars ... only the car with low milage and with proper maintenance will stay alive even for 15 years

Hahaha ... no dear ... its not like that ... infact every human being has different set of priorities, liking and past experiences .... based on evident facts he make decision and the reason you took to buy a santro is very very simple and not illogical because thats simple apparent logic to go for ... almost 90% of people adopt same logic when purchasing an old car and i think no one has the authority to force you against your liking because its your money , your choice and your experience based decision ... wish you best of luck with your new ride
