The particular model of city which you are talking about is a Vario with CVT gear box. This car is not rough and tough and has a very poor resale value in the market. An average condition vario in lahore market is between 8.5 to 9 lac.
Before buying this car first of all make sure it has never been driven on cng OR not has been removed after using it.... 70% cars normally have gear shifting problem or either with a newly replaced gearbox.
after all the satisfactions if you still find the car in good condition then you can buy it uptil 9.5, but anything above that is truly your responsibility of loss at resale,

First of all i think getting on hand experience is the best method to compare both. Get a test drive of both the cars and then you can decide better as per your taste.
Just one thing to keep in mind is that Honda civic top of the line car has a good resale value than a top of the line corolla ALtis. If you love to drive fast then Honda is for you and if you love a rough and tough car with good finishing and reliability then go for altis.

Dear Mzkhan .... this is really very difficult question to answer.

Well actually all of the three cars you took an option are different because honda is a honda having different kind of a drive and specifications where as a new corolla 1.3 has new shape and different drive wheras the old shape corolla Gli 1.6 will be completely different in shape and power. The current shape corolla however has a 1.6 Dual VVTI tehnology which i doubt will be available in upcoming shape 1300cc car. Now it completely depends on your choice of shape and driving habits, but i can help you in matching one with your requirements.

If you are living in a posh area in any city with no requirements to visit village or out of city drives then city is recommended which gives you an additional advantage of more horse power. City normally gives a milage of 10-11 km/l in city with normal foot.

On the other hand if you need a car with more power with good fuel average having good ground clearance in rural areas even if you have 5 passengers in the car then 1.6gli with dual vvti is a preferred option. Despite of being a 1600cc car it will give you a milage between 12-14 km/l

Third option is a new shape corolla having 1300cc engine but at the moment i cant give any feed back because i am not sure whether it has a dual VVTI engine or not and also dont have any idea wither it has 5 forward gears or 4 gears. If they introduce this new shape with 5 speed CVT gear with dual vvti then you can go for it without any second thought. you can expect between 13-15 km/l with these specs.

Difference between 4 speed AT and 5 speed At is that 5 speed will give you more smooth drive at low rpm eventually resulting in better fuel milage than 4 speed car.

From resale point of you the new corolla with 1300 dual vvti 5 speed will have the best resale followed by honda city and in the last 1600cc gli.

Thank you very much for your detailed and rational reply on each car. What I feel from your view and my use, I should drop GLI 1.6AT and concnetrate on City and GLI AT. Below are the details of GLI AT 1.3. It is 4 speed VVTI engine. Would it give a good performance?
Another thing is, I may also consider City Aspire 1.5 AT in 1800K with some additional features. What is your observation on that? Its fuel consumption, drive and resale value compared to GLI and City 1.3.

BTW ,as I live in Karachi where CNG is not big problem, can I consider installing CNG in any of these rides?

Thanks again for your feedback.
You know what, I was hoping you'll come up with some positivity of rolla but no.
I am trying to convince myself to accept city shape for quite sometime with little success.
Secondly even if I convince myself, there are complain regarding city hard suspension, bad road clearance, knocking at low rpm in AT version with bad fuel efficiency.
Do you really think it's really bad specs of new rolla as shared above compared to city.
About 100% use it's within city, Most of the time I am only person in car as I used to go office in it. 80% drive is on good road with no speed breaker but to avoid traffic jam I used to take alternate route which have about 10 Car breaker (read speed breaker) within one km.
Just another detail, as per rolla brochure, they are claiming 13.7 kml of their 1.3 AT against 14.1kml of city AT, is it possible with these specs?
So again I am asking you with all the detail to get a detailed feedback.

Rolla is not at all bad and neither is honda city...... personally i don't think its a matter of life and death if you made a bad decision. Both the cars are selling like a hot cake in Pakistan. Its only a matter of personal needs to match with the market options.
When you are spending money " You have all the right to follow your heart and mind ".
Personally speaking i dont like shape of rolla and city but at the same time dont hate them at all..... at any point in time if you have the pocket to buy a new land cruiser or range rover, you will go for it but you will never go for xli or city so its a compromise.

In budget of 10 lacs you have the following options

1. Pakistani corolla xli-gli model 2005 - 2007
2. pakistani honda city model 2006-2007
3. pakistani honda civic model 2004-2005-2006 (exi or Vti oriel munal / prosmatec)
4. toyota vitz model 2006-2007

These are the options which are highly recommended for you. because these are proper market cars with easy availability of parts and having durability and reliability at the same time.

The approximate price of corolla xli 2005 in non accidented condition in original seals and 50% touching is app 9-9.5 lacs.
In honda there are EXI which is 1500cc but with out sunroof and alloyrims options ... its approximate price is between 8-9 lacs
Other variant is Vti oriel manual and Vti oriel prosmatec with sunroof and alloyrims 1600cc - its approximate price is between 10-11 lac
