From Altis 1.6 to Grande 1.8 CVTi

Installed the same in my Grande two days back, but there was a problem. Every time I pressed the horn pad, there was a sharp hissing sound along with the horn sound. Traced it and found that it was alternator hum coming from the speakers, which is sort of some interference.

Do your horns sound alright? I'm talking about honking them with the engine running, windows closed and stereo at 0 volume.

Did not notice any interference, but will check tomorrow. Did the installer do proper grounding from horn terminal to ground?

I installed them myself.. with one terminal properly wired and connected with the bracket nut; the other one connected to the original grip. Please do check and let me know.

If yours isn't making any other noise then my amplifier and woofer may be the culprits. But I'll wait for your feedback first.

@khurram26 bhai, increase the current flow for your car. I did the same because I have 75w acme hid ballast installed with 55w morimoto xb bulbs in high, when ever I turn it on I hear "trrrreeccckk" like sound in my speakers. All electrical components and wiring is capable to carry current for oem devices only
Go for big 3 wiring, if you are in lahore you can go to carnation for that, costed me 4500rs.
They will install direct wire from alternator to positive terminal, one negative wire will go to engine and other one will go to complete earth of car. All wires will be zero gauge ones.

Well, it happens when hid startup only. Before it used to happen on every dipper. When its on and stable there's nothing, but when hid startup takes place there is minor or negligible one.

Alright. So proper grounding is the issue then. But I am so amazed why this is happening at all. Previously I had a Cruisetronic 1.8 and I installed an aftermarket DVD player (hooked up with Auxiliary of the OEM navigation unit). The unit was 0.5 Din (very slim) so I installed it in the glove compartment. I was so excited till I tested it... it was a humming nightmare. The more you revved the engine the sharper the whistle from the speakers got.

Anyway I soon figured out that it was a grounding issue and added additional ground wires... the whine got better but was still very noticeable. So ultimately I gave up and removed the DVD.

Ironically I have another 2013 GLi 1.6 Auto which has Bosch horns. There is no noise in that car at all, no interference no whine no hissing... all with stock wiring.

My 2016 Grande again seems to be a replica of the Cruisetronic I had. Similar issues of Alternator whine in speakers with any aftermarket electronic accessory.

I think that's not issue of current flow. That's the issue of your sound system. There is some grounding issue with it. Amplifier might be the culprit. Contact @makhdoom123, he knows a lot about sound system.

The problem is with bosch and other power horns. I have tried Bosch and Alpha. There is no issue with the stock horns, they work fine without any speaker interference.

But I definitely agree with you that the amplifier may be the culprit. I will disconnect it and check if the problem persists. Thanks for your help.

I think that's not issue of current flow. That's the issue of your sound system. There is some grounding issue with it. Amplifier might be the culprit. Contact @makhdoom123, he knows a lot about sound system.

Sir, but I have denso power tone, and they have same grounding with body, and I have also installed one 4channel amplifier with 4 speakers, but there is no issue like that in my car from horn.
Alternator sound with increase in speed can be the grounding issue of amplifier or headunit I guess.

If your RCA cabes are travelling along your power cable of amplifier this will happen.

Get branded RCA cables. Route the RCA cables opposite side of power cable. Not with the power cable. Any good sound system installer would know what to do:)

Sometimes the internal ground of the player stops working due to which humming noise arises. So it has to be grounded externally.

Go to a reputable installer. Ecerything will be okay

The original horns are also grounded to the body. The connector has just one pin, the positive trigger.

To remove any doubt I will disconnect the amp and try the horns.
