Folks,
Since quality astronomical telescopes were not available in Pakistan until very recently, I've AH founded Sahal Telescopes & Binoculars. If you have seen our other threads, you know we are hardcore Pakistani enthusiasts who have Alhamdulillah been into astronomy and skywatching since 1997, so we know telescopes inside out. We have used almost every telescope brand there is - Sky-Watcher, Celestron, Orion, Meade, Zhumell, Mizar, Vixen, Tasco, you name it - so we also know the best telescopes of the lot through first hand experience.
The 5" telescope originally put up for sale in this ad was a single unit that was sold out a long time ago. The owner is very satisfied with it. We now have brand-new, factory sealed telescopes that are even bigger and more powerful, at unbelievably low prices. Really. Here's what we have:
- 6" f/8 Sky-Watcher solid tube dobsonian: Rs.44,500/- + Rs.1,500 TCS charges if applicable
- 8" f/6 Sky-Watcher collapsible manual dobsonian: Rs.66,500/- + Rs.1,900 TCS charges if applicable
- 10" f/4.7 Sky-Watcher collapsible manual dobsonian: Rs.85,500/- + Rs.2,500 TCS charges if applicable
- 8" f/6 Sky-Watcher collapsible GoTo dobsonian: Rs.150,000/- + Rs.2,200 TCS charges if applicable
Our telescopes are a Pakistani astronomer's dream come true! At our unbelievably low prices, there's no wonder our telescopes and accessories are best-sellers and are happily owned by astronomy buffs in Karachi, Lahore, Islamabad, Quetta, Gujrat, Hyderabad and Hassanabdal. ALL PHOTOS SHOWN of the Moon, Jupiter and its moons, and Saturn were shot THROUGH THESE manually tracked Sky-Watcher dobsonian telescopes. Check us out on Facebook for updates of upcoming astronomical events tailored according to Pakistani skies as well as the latest happenings on the Pakistani astronomy scene.
Here are the specs of our brand new, factory-sealed 10" f/4.7 Sky-Watcher dobsonian, for example:
- Massive 10" (254mm) diameter paraboloidal (not spherical as in certain low quality models) primary mirror. This has 6 times more light gathering area and therefore 6 times brighter images than a 4-inch (102mm) telescope
- 1200mm focal length; hence the f/4.7 focal ratio
- 2" metallic Crayford focuser with 1.25" adapter
- variable-tension altitude bearings
- adjustable focus 8x50mm finderscope with coated glass lenses and metallic body
- 1.25" Super Plossl 25mm focal length eyepiece
- 1.25" Super Plossl 10mm focal length eyepiece; this is way sharper than other comparable eyepieces we have used, like the Zhumell 10mm
- Manual pointing and tracking
Everything is top-notch. The focuser is super-smooth. The optics, eyepieces and finderscope are super-sharp with excellent thin film coatings. These 8" and 10" telescopes are incredibly compact even in their fully extended form, and more so in the collapsed state. Very portable and easy to transport.
Instead of a plethora of low quality models, we have only those astronomical telescopes that we know from our years of experience best suit the needs and interests of Pakistani astronomy enthusiasts. Our list of favorite telescopes is biased towards models with several key characteristics: sharp optics, a steady, jitter-free mount, convenient portability and no-fuss ease of use, all at a price that is the best value in its class. This is why we have the 6" f/8, 8" f/6 manual and GoTo, 10" f/4.7 and 12" f/5 Sky-Watcher collapsible dobsonians up for grabs for the first time ever in Pakistan! Sky-Watcher is owned and made by the same company which owns and manufactures Celestron, and also makes Orion and several models for the Japanese telescope brands Vixen and Mizar.
These telescopes come in two large, very well-packed boxes; ship from Karachi. Delivery by courier throughout Pakistan; call for courier charges. You can easily attach any DSLR or point-and-shoot camera with this telescope by using simple, inexpensive adapters. CCD cameras such as ZWO ASI120mc can be directly connected to the telescope for prime focus or eyepiece projection astrophotography.
Some of the photos were shot through our 6" f/8 Sky-Watcher dobsonian from Hanif bhai's lands in Mirpur Sakro. Other shots were taken with the Sky-Watcher 10" f/4.7 manual collapsible dobsonian, the included 10mm Super Plossl eyepiece and a ZWO ASI120mc CCD camera (naturally not included!) from Brazil. Please note that these are stacked-video images, which cancel the blurring affects of the atmosphere and therefore capture more detail than the eye alone can see. The shot of the Moon is a single unprocessed image through an iPhone camera.
