Fuel consumption: Does Altis 1.6 Automatic do more than GLI 1.3 Automatic?

My 1.6 7k driven gives me 12 in Lahore where most of the route's avg speed is 60km/h

My Gli AT FL gives 11 in lahore , 13+ in isb, 9-10 peshawar due to worst traffic and roads. On highway from peshawar to Multan i get 16+ by full tank calculation method. Its not even inderpowered but excitement factor is not there.
Few weeks back , i drove from isb to peshawar consistently @ 150kph and gli returned 13kmpl.

Sturdy ka nhn pata...per cvt in grande feel hell lot better and responsive than super ect..any day. Why did u sell grande ti get 1.6..just curious?

I sold it because a top trim Corolla never stands out.

Back when I didn't care much about cars, I couldn't tell a difference between base model Corolla and the top of the line model. They all looked the same

Exactly. The situation in FL models is a little satisfying though. But before that all of them looked the same therefore I regretted all the time I owned it. Got a good deal and I didnt think twice before letting it go.
It is a good car but I would prefer a Civic in that price bracket.

Pakwheels theory of Cvt being a superior transmission is what beats me. If it were we'd be seeing the mercs and the audis with cvt.

Its called torque to weight ration ,1.6 does have better fuel average than 1.3 as 1.6 is new generation engine than 1.3 .the 1.3 engine and transmission are the same as previous generation ,for 1.6 it comes with better torque than 1.3 which complements the additional weight .

Cvt is more economical but still way better than regularnone..bmws and audis and other highend cars have dual clutch auto transmissions as well

I believe that is due to the fact that you travel on ring road.

Ring road is a highway. And average of any car is better in highways

Hi ALL , i have recently buy GLI 1.6 auto 2012 model and its avg is around 8.8km/l and its Full tank to empty on almost 90% soft foot, that stats are after complete tune (injector cleaning + throtal body + spark plugs ) plus Cat cleaning from Toyota garden motors kalma chok , My personal experiance is when i drive on canal road it shows 11-12 around avg and when i drive in model town , johar town ,faisal town its gives around 7-8 km/l .

Can some body suggest how it can be improved ?

Hi , same with me and even some times it goes down to 6-7 km/l . i have not found any soultion yet , i clean cat , complete tune , injector cleaning , etc etc .... but only i found car become smooth and shows power but at fuel its not above 9 .

let me know if you found some suggestion .

What is engine RPM of 1.6 at 120 km/h speed ?

It is around 2.7k-2.8k at 120Kmph

That’s not too bad, but higher than a 1.8L CVT by around 0.5 K.
