Fuel Filter (Filter Plate) of Axio. confused

(1) When should the Fuel Filter (Filter Plate or Fuel Suction Plate Sub Assy) be replaced considering the petrol in Pakistan? The car in question is Axio.

(2) Is there any way to know that the fuel filter is clogged without removing it? Even if taken out, visual inspection cannot really tell whether or not it needs to be replaced... So fuel pressure check would confirm? No idea which mechanic would do this in Pakistan except perhaps Toyota 3S.

(3) The above picture is of Fuel Filter from Axio, Part No. 77020-12650 but when you check the Axio parts catalog; the part number that comes up is 77024-12081; why the difference of what is in the car and what is written in the parts catalog? The "12650" does not apply to any Toyota vehicle.

(4) Checking in local spare parts shop, I found that no Filter Plate comes with a parts no. sticker. When you search for the part no. on internet, a lot of these come up on "Alibaba.com". How do we make sure we are getting a genuine replacement?

The above data is self explanatory. I suppose the local filter will fit but what am asking is, the part no. sticker is not present on any that are being sold. I was not even shown a box with Toyota's part no. so what am I to make of it?

Axio - Luxel is Corolla variant sold only in Japan under 1.5 & 1.8 motor variant between 2006 & 2012, the Station wagon variant is known as Fielder in 2WD & 4Wd variants.

The part you are looking for is not sold as component part [in Pakistan] It is sold as complete FUEL PUMP FILTER assembly, It can be sourced brand new from any shop selling Toyota New Parts. - From scrap yards you can source old units if you like

If You Search By Part No Here...You Can Also Get But Chances Are Quiet Less

Regarding Its Replacement So Depends On Quality Of Fuel...........It Can Vary From 20,000km Upto 75,000 km.....Or If You Fill From Some Bad Pump Then You Might To Get On Urgent Basis Also.....SO It All Depends.......Fuel Pressure Will Tell You Exactly......

Salam brothers,
I am in a big trouble and need you assistance. I have a strange problem facing in Toyota axio 2009 car (part no. of fuel pump assembly Denso 77020-12650). It is peculiar. If I drive my car more than 1/2 hour, o-ring at the head of pressure regulator inside fuel pump assembly come out from its position, engine will not start. If the engine is running no problem. It happens when I stop the car and start again after some time. I have to open the fuel pump assembly and push o-ring inside otherwise engine do not start.

I have already open the pump assembly and found not any significant problem, even the o-ring seems Ok in quantity.
Any body have any idea how to solve thid? Auto Technicians in my area fails to solve this problem.
Please help me.

Brother I've recently suffered for 3 days without my car because of failed fuel pump. Initially went for a used pump and housing from shershah... I don't work for a minute. Today bought a new pump and pump housing from plaza and car started in 2nd attempt and running perfect now....

In your case if the pressure regulator slips out of housing then in my opinion change the housing in which the regulator fits.. it's for 700 and contains a paper element type filter... replace both o rings on it as well...

Opening the fuel tank to reach this assembly takes hours... So once you are in there... Change all possible stuff.
My fuel pump stopped and my car refused to start in the middle of the road... When opened found a low quality Chinese pump rattling in there... Have installed a so called Japanese one now for 3200... Hope it stays good...

From my limited experience... The regulator is supposed to be flushed in completely with o ring not visible... Place the o ring in the housing first and the flush in the regulator...

thanks brother for your answer. Most peculiar is that problem occurs when I drive in long hours. everything is OK if the engine is running. O-ring comes out if I stopped after long drive and again restart after 10-30 minutes later. If I pressed o-ring it completely goes inside as you say, engine start peacefully. Auto Technicians here failed to find the problem. From your experience, is it the problem with fuel pump or the housing? I am just confused.

I suppose it's the housing that's gotten loose and pushes the regulator out... Buy a new housing... It's just 700 rs... Fit it the regulator and pump in it and then try... Hopefully that's gonna solve your problems... New housing comes with a paper element inside a jali filter underneath...
