Fuel Gauge Not Working

Hi,

I came across a very strange problem with my Hyundai Santro Club GV. The fuel tank had 25 liters of fuel and fuel gauge in meter was working fine.

Next day, when i started the car engine, fuel gauge remained at End (E) indicating that fuel had finished, however, car is still running on petrol and fuel is present in the tank. However, fuel gauge shows the tank is empty :P.

Please comment on the probmen and possible solutions. Thank you!

well normally a "floater" is installed in petrol tank (like we have in water tanks) that signals the petrol level in tank - subsequently shown in dash board meter. Usually due to contamination in petrol etc, carbon/etc is deposited on a panel attatched with float - so you will have to get cleasning of that float so that it can send accurate petrol level.

well it's not a very difficult job to be done - you may visit any reasonable mechanic that you used too - where you can bargain and fix the labour easily. The mechanic will have to get down your petrol tank and it will be a good chance for you to get clearnsing of your petrol tank as well. The guage can easily be cleaned with iorn paper(reghmaal) and check it using wired connection before being intalled in tank.i dnt thnk for sentro the mechanic should charge you more then Rs. 600.
