Fuel Tank Capacity of City 2010

Hi Guys/City Owners!

I have noticed that my city 2010 wont let me fill the fuel tank more than 35 liters, while its capacity is 42 liters as mentioned on the website i.e.

Honda | Pakistan

Does it mean that I am having some sort of issue or what?

Please do share your input/feedback regarding your experience/knowledge.

This is probably because you are filling up around when the reserve light goes on. That means there is currently 7L in the tank, and 42-7=35L which you fill in making the full tank 42.

You can try this though, drive another 70-80km after the reserve light comes on, and then fill up...it should be 40-41L.

Brother, you may be right but I fill it as per its "projected range" that it shows after the reserve light is on. You can't take the risk if you trust its projected range. Today while coming from my office it was projecting 16 KM, when I filled it and once again after 35 liters it was overflowing.

I am just confused.

he is right, the reserve in city idsi is 7.9ltr.wud be atleast 8lts in new city too,so try driving for sum time on reserve and then get fuel, u ll certainly get more then 35ltr.

I have no doubt in wht u r saying is correct but the problem is why its electronic projected range is misleading then..? When they have integrated this feature , shouldnt it be accurate nd so is the case with milage when it shows 12 km/ltr it is actually 10km/ltr if u calculate it manually.

^hahaha. dhoka dia hoga to make u feel more comfortable... very few ppl would actually check tht if it is showing 12km/l then it is 12km/l or not... pakistani

well, thats just the spontaneous fuel average.... it changes as u change the speed, gear, turn on ac etc... so if u r going constantly at accurately a fixed speed in the same gear on a leveled smooth road (means under 100% STABLE CONDITIONS) i think u r gonna get the average which is being displayed on the meter.

its just the limitations of the system, cuz it cant measure factors beyond its control.

there are two averages, one is the instantaneous and the second is the overall average... same is the case with new altis

Brother, instantaneous avg is in the form of a horizontal bar in the CITY that keeps on moving to and fro reflecting the change at any particular time but you can see the overall accumulated avg on your meter as well which I have tried to calculate manually a couple of times just to check its reliability and I find it erratic/overstating. It doesn't give you the true mileage achieved in a full tank.

I don't know the reason but may be we can dig it further if city owners particularly share their experiences/input.

Although not a new city owner but as per my understanding the car computer excludes the reserve fuel while calculating the cruising range.

Like as you said that you filled it last time when there were only 16kms remaining on the dial. after these 16 kms the reserve light would switch on and the 7 litre reserve petrol would start burning.

This is because the manufacturer never recommends taking the car to the reserve light 'ON' limit very often. They rather recommend keeping the fuel tank at 1/4th level.

The projected range is minus the reserve capacity. it is the same in my corolla and city. both show 0km range when running on reserve.

Another advise, don't drive during reserve light period because the fuel filter become choked/blocked due to heavy particles laying down in tank. Try best to fill tank as earlist.

im not really sure but i think its 50ltr.
