Yaar I had same question in my mind for quite sometime and what I did was I went to the showroom of these cars. I am at following conclusion, in my personal opinion: -
looks : I like the looks of both cars. Infact I feel that optra is slightly better looking but CIVIC is also a beauty. New civic looks awesome. So inshort to me there is a tie in looks.
power: Civic is more powerful. BUT power dont matter to me much.
interior: NOW this is where optra was a huge disappointment for me. When I sat in the car which was for something like 1249k (LS A/T with all features) there was nothing in it to impress me. The interior was very very dull. I just sat there for a minute looking for something impressive. The interior resembled more like the SUZUKI Margalla's Interior but with more buttons. I find interior of Liana/City more appealing. This is totally personal opionion so Optra owners please dont get offended
Comfort: Never sat in any of the car for long/short distance.
Resale: Civic will be better.
Parts: Both companies have all parts. Chev guys claim they have all 1800 parts in their inventory so availability shouldnt be an issue just have to consider prices with the civic's parts.
Yaar I also visited showroom for Toyota Corolla 'X' while looking at Optra/Civic etc. It was also a nice car with nice looks and interior. But the biggest turn down was price, it was 18,000km driven and he was asking for 13lac. Yaar here at PW people say that CIVIC is overy priced (which I also believe) but if you look at market there are cars of prices like 13lac selling like hot cakes. You spent 13lac and you get a used car for atleast 18000km which may be accidental and has no warranty. If you consider this than CIVIC is very rightly priced (infact intelligently priced by Honda guys). We are at fault if CIVIC is for 13+lac. We purchased shit from Japan at this price so why not local stuff.
Conclusion: Go for CIVIC
Best if you can wait and save more than buy CIVIC Oriel. That one is worth buying.
