G13ba Overhaul

My car's engine is now consuming oil like crazy. previously i was in the mood for a swap, but couldnt find a decent engine. So now i am going to get the old engine overhauled. The engine is the stock G13ba (8v carbureted). I just want to know about the usual stuff that makes overhauls go bad (like you once mentioned, mechanics reuse tty bolts in pakistan).

Can you please give me a list of things that need to be taken care of and the parts that MUST be replaced. Sealants that must be used. and any special instructions for kharadiya.

The engine has never been opened uptill now (280,000 km). Though i think i will be able to get away with a head and rings job.

what should be the ideal compression figure for this engine and how far can it be revved.

And i hear that these guys leave the engine to idle for hours when they overhaul, is this good practice?

use a branded rebuild kit - Find a seasoned mechanic who gives you gaurantee of a proper rebuild.....

Else, If I were in your shoes, I would like to find another engine for swap....

G13b or G15A are options. problem is that i like the g13b better and its rare and also expensive, plus its parts are rare. second problem is that we don't have enough time to fiddle with wiring

btw we have two workshops in mind

Magic motors

i think the suzuki guys should have the tools required, mainly the torque wrench

I should prefer Magic Motors then.... go ahead with rebuild, but don't be too optimistic.... its not a job that cannot be done, but I am yet to see a proper reliable rebuild.....

and for your kind info... g15a wiring would be peanuts to any bilal gunj electrician okay... Go and find a good engine from bilal gunj. It will cost you only 10-15k more than the rebuild..... may be that's not the case, so you should go and find replacement engine... ditch the overhaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaal

the magic motors guys also used to be suzuki dealers once upon a time. they also have the torque wrench :). but the suzuki sethi guys have all the parts nearby. i can't decide, khair i am gonna go for wet and dry compression tests.

280k...Suzuki Engine......!!

I Would Think 100 times Before Jumping Into Rebuilding It.......Sourcing Genuine Parts And Most Imp...Proper Rebuild Shop And Tools Available Along With Rebuild Spec.....Else You Are Wasting Your Time And Money.....

G13b DOHC is One Hell Of Motor But I Doubt You Find Any In Decent Condition With Complete Sensors.....Its As GOOD And SOLId As OX

You Can Find Baleno Motor WIth Complete Acc In Quiet A Good Price And Easy To Wire Also

Get Compression Tested If You Are Really Opted For Rebuild.....

WET/DRY......And See What Readings You Get.....

Try Dry And Note Readings And Then Go With WET And Note Readings

thats what i had in mind, that would tell if its only the rings or also the head

but here is some annoying info, the engine is running a mix of havoline 20w50 and stp oil, it was before the 200,000 mark that we started giving it the stp oil. the car had a defective radiator warna i think it would have crossed 300,000 only on 20w50

why did you feel the need to mix stp with engine oil. Its used by showroom guys to mask noises inside the engine for an easy sale.

At max, we do it to mask gear whining noises on a manual tranny.

Regarding overhaul or a swap, people here have much more knowledge and experience. But i would like to say, as much as the G13B dual cam flagship engine fascinates us, its reported to be a fuel guzzler. And running it on CNG will be downright injustice.

G15b or a G16 from a baleno would be better options for a swap.

Also, the compression results would tell you about valves or rings.

You need an oil pressure test as well to confirm if the lower block requires rebuild or not as the engine has already run 280k. Its hard to find a pressure gauge.

swap bro swap, thats it, rest magic motors, i heard good about them even our @killervtec was there for tune, and he is quite satisfied. m gona pay a visit to them very soon for timing setting and injectors job.

stp slowed the oil burning problem for about 25k-30k km, then it eventually got even weaker and even burned this mix. The stock radiator leaked atleast twice as far as i remember and when we moved to lahore it was once fed fake havoline, so i wonder if these mistakes could have been avoided how long would it have lasted
