Im not talking about slapping generic parts with names like pikachu, fuji, beyblade etc etc.
japanese cars are famous for this crap, the exact parts installed at the factory are never available as spares, its due to the inventory system they have adapted. (which is what Tesla is also doing today)
when you buy a new part - you will notice that the factory markings and numbers are missing (even new genuine parts) - buy a new nissan timing chain set from the dealer and compare it to the one installed in the engine, they will look and behave the same buy are not exactly the same, markings, tensioner spring etc are different.
same with water pumps etc.
while on mercedes benz engines, if you buy new bolts for the torque converter, they are also branded with kamax like the factory, the water pump is made by Graf and marked with the star and part no. too exactly like the one you are taking off. Or the valve guides which will be actually Bruss branded or the siemens branded relays - exact same part to the last mark and number. (or updated number as required)
or buying new clutch discs for the automatic transmission from showroom/dealer, the japanese ones are different in vane design and sometimes material too - while the german and american one is the exact copy you are removing.
Its the supply system the japanese have employed. Nothing new or alien about it - their banking keiretsu system actually helps such model.
