Recently i got my transmission rebuilt (whole gear set replacement) of my Swift'89.I am having same noise problem in morning which disappears on clutch press and goes away after few minutes.upon inspection, gear oil in the transmission is thick as caramel, and problem is due to fifth gear not receiving proper lubrication on startup.
1.local mechanic is unwilling to change it at all as according to him, thick gear oil is best for old cars if i put oil recomended in user manual then "gear awaz kar jai ga".he suggested to overfill gear oill to which i am reluctant as it is bad for gear seals (personal experience)
2. Represenataive at Suzuki Riwand Motors Lahore said suzuki gear oill (SAE 90 API GL4) is still thick for it, I should get zic FF in it from market
3. Representative at suzuki Modern Township motors said the same thing as local mechanic and told me that if after putting suzuki gear oil "agar gear awaz kar gaya to meri koi responsibility nahi ho gi"
According to my understanding, using thicker, substandard, and un recomended gear oill will cause premature failure of transmission. I am more inclind towards suzuki gear oil as it has the thickest viscosity among gear oils recomended in car's user manual and being obtaining it from suzuki dealership, it has less chances of being counterfeit.
I need some expert advise about whether shoud i change my gear oill to suzuki gear oill or should i continue to use the thick gear oill.
