Aoa my corolla 1.6 altis auto has suddenly stopped shifting gears. I reversed my car and tried to put it to neutral but the gear got stuck at R. I have tried multiple times to and fro but it is stuck there. I turned off the car and shifted using the shift lock and took it to N. But now she has refused to start due to gear in R.What could be the possible reason to this failure. I live in countryside area and its difficult to find mechanic here so i had to move my car to city. Is there any way i can temporarily shift the gear of my car so that i can take it to desirable destination. Thank youInput is direly needed here especially from experienced pak wheelers. Your cable is probably disconnected from the range selector.
Check that if actually moves when you move the shifter

Gear shift failure in a car means that your transmission mode (lever position) is working but its not shifting gear ratios as it moves
